Just frantically busy getting the thesis to 'possible last draft' stage ... 87000 words and counting ... maybe later in the year when things are more calm I will write here a bit more.

Of course ...
[Bad Eastern European Accent] Vhen ve vere in di Old Country [/BEEA] I mean Forum - it looked busier because there was a big fringe of people who made occasional appearances - most of whom have not migrated to this location.

I couldn't log on on my other computer - it said the server was set to a date in the future and wouldn't allow me to connect.
I connected with this one as it has a 'remember me' cookie.
So maybe that explains the low posting rate. I'll try logging out and back in now - but I thought I'd post this first as if it doesn't work, I'll not be able to post again till the server is fixed.
Edited to add: I was able to log out and back in again on this computer this morning - so I guess the 'future date' thing was just a temporary glitch.

If nothing else that is quite a creative excuse

I gave up trying to explain to some people that, even though their clock had the right time on it, as the computer thought they were living in Seattle, it was actually wrong. I'm not saying that was the case here, but that's exactly the sort of consequence that comes from it! Computers can be pedantic little beasties these days. Fortunately, a mere three major releases of Windows later, M$ actually did something to address it!

I suspect Cep is computer savvy enough to realise that he is not based in Seattle and the problem he had was rather more serious

I also expect so, but it could be something as silly at the other end of things.
