Ah, the good old times with an orchestra and a conductor. First, UK hits: Sandie Shaw - Puppet on a string (1967, winning) Cliff Richard - Congratulations (1968, No. 2) www.youtube.com/watch?v=23ZG6HJVKuQLulu - Boom bang-a-bang (1969, one of four No. 1:s) Mary Hopkin - Knock knock, who's there (1970, No. 2) www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kvo8pzEyxF4The New Seekers - Beg, steal or borrow (1972, No. 2) www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyxJeV8OLjIBrotherhood of Man - Save your kisses for me (1976, winning) Bucks Fizz - Making your mind up (1981, winning) Katrina and the Waves - Love shine a light (1997, winning) And then, what happened? UK lost interest in the song festival, I guess.

It all used to be better when the songs had words you could understand and a proper tune!

It annoys me that we can't manage to put a decent entry together There are loads of great UK singer songwriters but year after year we enter dross (This year's was not so bad at least)

I agree. While I didn't like it and thought it had no chance of winning, there have been many recent ones that have been way worse!

25 years ago, in the good old days when the Swedish entries were sung in Swedish:
Se på mig (look at me) with Jan Johansen (no 3 in ESC 1995)
Ah, I remember how both my little daughter and I loved the song.

Isn’t he adorable! Of course after 25 years he might not be anymore.
I know. How random! I will have to look him up at some point.

Hi Mr/Ms Johnson, welcome to the forum. This forum consists of a group of people who like chatting and discussing things, particularly topics of European interest. It's not actually a blog, although you can use it as such, and you are welcome to become a member and contribute to our discussions. You can create your own personal forum by clicking this link: www.proboards.com/create-free-forum but you have to bear in mind you won't usually get anyone to read it unless you advertise it (for example, by passing it around amongst friends). And then you are likely to get people commenting on it, as they do on Facebook posts. No expertise is necessary to create and maintain a forum and no HTML coding is needed. The owners of the software, proboards.com, are able to make money from the adverts hosted on the site but we do not earn any revenue from it. You may find other sites more suitable for creating a blog. Googling [how to start a blog] gives you a number of links and it's my guess very little expertise is required, at least to start with.

Hello spammer. (Poster claims this is a blog, like the previous one. Post has no relation to the title or content of the thread.)
