I love a real tree but it's impractical, not least cos they are quite pricey. Then you have to get them here - not easy without a car - and find some way to stand them up and then you spend all December hoovering up pine needles till your hoover gives up in disgust. Then in January you have the guilt of stripping it of its finery and chucking it in the bin, where it won't be collected till the brown bin collections recommence in Spring. So I tend to go for a fake one ...

We've always had a real tree at home, but now that Lisa and I are living in an apartment that doesn't allow real trees (because they're a fire hazard???) I'm planning on getting a fake one. The plus side is that I can reuse it. The downside is pretty much everything else, except vacuuming up pine needles.

I voted for real tree, though.

You can't really compare the smell of a real one to a fake one .. I love the smell of pine.

We have a real one in a pot in our garden, which we bring in at Christmas. I think this might be its last year though - it's growing too big.

You could always decorate it outside?

You can't really compare the smell of a real one to a fake one .. I love the smell of pine. It's much easier to just buy a bottle of Detol and sprinkle it liberally around the room

You could always decorate it outside? Nah, you couldn't see it from house. Not sure our local wildlife would really appreciate the effort, either.

I used to love the smell of a real tree but it was so impractical. Planting it in a tub of soil to stop it falling over was a difficult exercise, and miserable when it was wet and windy. I loved our artificial tree immediately we first put it up, even though something inside me rebelled and said I was a traitor. Now, however, we have decided not to bother with a tree. Bah humbug.

I just bought a fake tree online, which is, all around, as artificial of an experience of Christmas tree hunting as I can think of. :-( But, it was 50% off and I'd already scoped out the trees at the store and decided which one I wanted. Still, it's a bit depressing.
Looking forwards to going out in December and freezing my toes and nose off with my family while we traipse around a field, or possibly several fields, to find the one perfect tree.

I like fake trees, no annoying smells, no spiders, no pine needles all over the floor. Well you get a bit of needles from your fake tree when you first set it up but then it's fine. And you can re-use it.

Real tree for me. It's not too expensive here and I like the smell.

I prefer the outdoors to stay there. Lol. Plus we have a tree for every room. With different style for each area.

We had real trees until I moved away from my hometown. We had property which was full of Balsam trees which I prefer. Needles are less likely to fall off. Now we have a fake one.

I used to prefer a real tree, but a few years ago I thought a fake tree might be nice. But they were around 100 Euros and we didn't have that money for a tree. Now e are not using a tree anyway, but I think if we did, we might go for a real one,at least until we had 100 Euros left for a fake one.

We finally brought ours in yesterday, because it's too heavy for me (my back is bad atm) so Adrian and Gabriel had to do it. Couldn't be done in the dark so we had to wait for the weekend. It's still not decorated though because it was torrential rain yesterday, so it's drying out in my kitchen. And it looks huge! I think this could be its final year.
