As someone pointed out on facebook, it's not so much the fact that Trump is a bigoted moron - world is full of them. He's a bigoted moron who is standing as President of the most powerful country on earth and rather unfortunately, seems to have quite a lot of support amongst people who truly should know better. His comments about not allowing Muslims into the US were utterly outrageous and worse, they were dangerous.

Every time I see a picture of him I want to punch his face. I don't usually feel that way about people. (Also, I suspect I wouldn't be very good at it.)

That being said, I don't know anyone who is actually a fan of Trump.

I've never punched anyone in the face in my entire life but I can understand the temptation.

Muslim terrorists shot 14 persons. What about all the other mass shootings, Trump has nothing to say about them? Well, I suppose it's ok to be shot as long as it is by non-Muslims.
He is popular among some people b/c he "says like it is".
Could Trump be USA:s next president?

Someone pointed out that Trump represents what would happen if the internet comments section got a body and ran for president.

I must say that the phrase 'tells it like it is' is even more annoying than such gems as 'political correctness gone mad' or 'I went to the university of life.'
Hm, deep. I am gonna put that on facebook for the world to marvel at.

I try to avoid thinking about him because I just get angry then. I really hope he won'the become presisent. If he does,I will feel extremely sorry for my American friends, most of whom, to my knowledge, are not fans of him at all, either. Now I'm wondering who Betty was.

I recently heard a pretty good theory for why the US is (relatively speaking) in decline and therefore grasping at extremist straws. The idea is that a country is in a perfect place developmentally when the majority of its citizens are of a productive, working age, and the very young and very old are as few as possible. The past 40 years or so has been the time when the baby boomers have been working-aged, but they are now retiring. So the proportion of producive citizens has declined.
China is going to be in a possibly worse pickle soon, thanks to having limited its new members of society for so long with the one-child-policy.

I want to think that whole Trump thing is funny, but the fact that there's a very real chance (though small, I hope) that the most powerful country on earth could be led by a cartoon character is getting a bit scary.

Heh...The latest I've heard is the rumor that ISIS is being underwritten by the Koch brothers in an attempt to whip up xenophobia in the US.

Funny...I feel that way not only about Trump, but Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee, and Carly Fiorina as well. I suspect that if Marco Rubio, Chris Christy, and Jeb! Bush got more air time, I might feel the same about them....well, actually I feel like that about Jeb!, but it is just because of his relationship to W.

Yeah, I've heard lots of conspiracy theories about ISIS being funded by various western institutions (the CIA etc). Usually from the chemtrail crowd and those who think everything is a 'false flag'.

Almost right Juju.
Trump has been planted in the GOP by Democrat tacticians to ensure that Mrs. C. wins next time.

Ah, it all makes sense now. The Democrats persuaded the Tea Party to nominate Sarah Palin in 2008 because they knew she didn't stand a chance.

Not 'the Democrats', it's 'the corporate Democrats', which, warranted, is quite a lot of them. They are playing the Queen this time.
Bernie, by the way, is NOT a Democrat. He just portrays one in this round of elections.

He has good ideas and bad ideas. Unfortunately it's politics. Politics is a giant mess. I do agree with this wall idea but how feasible is it? Great Wall of china was effective but we have technology now.

The Great Wall of China was not effective. Keep in mind that China was conquered and subjugated by the Mongols, and later by the Manchus, after the Wall was in place. The wall is a stupid idea; just as stupid as any which the Donald throws out. I have yet to hear a well-formed 'good idea' actually enunciated by Donald Trump.

I think that a wall is a terrible idea - not just ideologically but also practically, in the sense that it just wouldn't bloody work.

Has he never heard of tunneling?
Any wall needs to have access from one side to the other to allow legitimate traffic. All legitimate traffic comes with illegitimate traffic and allows for the associates of those who might want to illicitly transit the barrier to gain control of the transit mechanism.
Given the length of the common border, it would be a hideous cost just to build it. Then, it is highly likely that it would not work.

The Berlin Wall kept East Germans out of West Germany... but that was slightly different. It worked mainly because East Germans were shot if they tried to climb over it. I had a friend who escaped over the Berlin Wall the day before it was closed to the public.

Yes it would cost a fucking fortune, not just to build but to maintain. How about doing the humane thing and, if Trump thinks that there is that much money available, giving it directly to the desperately poor people who might be trying to come through?
