What's the likelihood that you'll get one, in your area? (I'm guessing the likelihood for RB is pretty low... ) Here in Wales my guess is wet and windy. We've had white Christmases before, but rain is most likely.

Well if you count places like the Cairngorms then according to that we always have white Christmases. Except we don't.

By "observed" they probably mean "at a Met Office weather station". In 2011, 2012 and 2014 no stations reported snow falling or lying. Make of that what you will.

Not sure about that page above. Though I suspect it means for this year, not all /any years. This page gives a longer-term meteorological average for Finland by Foreca: ilmatieteenlaitos.fi/joulunaika[/ul] So in my area (the South) it is 6-8 out of every 10 Christmases. It ranges from all of them white in the North, to every other one in the archipelago.

Probably not. I can remember only 2 white Christmases, though I do remember snow later that week, during the Christmas break (two weeks). Still, my flowers have started to bloom again, so the weather has to turn really nasty real soon to get us a white Christmas.

I can only assume it works out a rough percentage for one place in Finland, or even in a wider area, and then happily reports this number for any place in the area. So Hanko and Rovaniemi are both 25%. Which I doubted.

We had a white Christmas in Birmingham in 2009 and 2010, but I think everyone did. I know people in Bremen did, as well as my parents in the south of Germany. Last year, there was a little bit of snow on December 26th and that's the most I'm expecting for this year. It is quite cold here in Bremen, but not cold enough for snow (yet).

It won't snow here, according to the predictions. We haven't really had any snow at all yet.

It snowed a bit last night (very pretty but no real accumulation), but it's supposed to warm up again this weekend. I don't think it's likely, but we'll see.

Statistically, we're more likely to get a white Easter than a white Christmas in the UK.

It has been rainy and stormy in Birmingham. Not much of a difference to Bremen. Bremen has English weather.

Ugh, it's been torrential here. Lots of flooding. Someone told me yesterday it's rained every day for 47 days here in Wales. I can't verify that, but I can believe it.

If you told me it had rained somewhere in Wales every day for 47 years I'd believe it.

My father asked if Birmingham was flooded. If it was, most of England would have drowned already. But it is sunny here today.

The forecast says it will be 13C here, with no precipitation. I'll drink white wine in the sun and think of RB. I will need a sweater, though.

I don't care what the temperature is on Christmas day, as long as it doesn't rain *all* day...
