Is this some kind of dark Scandinavian humor that translates poorly...or? Who knew the Icelanders had it out for the Swedes? Have I not kept up adequately with the 'Scandinavia in the World' missives? I thought it was Finland we needed to be concerned around things like kitchen knives.... And...Could this be one of the 'terrorist incident' allusions that the hed shitgibbon was tossing on about?

Swede is what you'd call Rutabaga, I believe.

Jolly nice *nods* though I don't buy the frozen stuff. Fresh and mashed with a bit of butter it's divine though. Trouble is, it's impossible to peel.

And 'Iceland' is a provisioner in the UK, who I expect was founded upon marketing frozen foods.

Yes. It specialises in frozen food, as I guess you realise, though you can get fresh stuff there too. It's very good value. There's one down the bottom of the hill we live on, we will take you there.

I love swedes too, of the vegetable variant. Though I have known a Swede person and he was great too.

I don't like the vegetable. I have met Swedes but that was a long time ago and I can't remember having an opinion of them.

Rutabagos, turnips, parsnips, collard greens, okra, plus a whole list of a 100 or more should all be shot and taken to Mars.
Swedish residents are a different story. Although I have never met one, I bet they are very nice.

I've never tried okra or collard greens but if they're like swedes and parsnips I bet I would love them. Parsnips are awesome

Okra is nothing like root vegetables. It's a weird-looking green thing that hurts your fingers with its little spines when it's raw and oozes out quantities of slime when you cook it. Blech. I've had limited dealings with okra, but I really don't like it.

I'm with Sarah on the okra, but collard greens, which are again nothing like root crops, are quite tasty. They are more like beet greens or spinach when cooked.

Okra is great. It grows on a plant; it's not a root vegetable. I even grew some last summer. Might try again this year...

I love root vegetables. I don't know why people are sos anti them. Probably because they've only had the experience of eating them in some horridly cooked way - as is the case with most vegetables people don't like to eat.

As I try and explain to my lovely family, it's not that I don't eat vegetables, it's that I don't care for or down-right don't like some vegetables. I eat peas, corn, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, green beans, potatoes (which I don't consider a vegetable). Some vegetables (root vegetables mainly) and certain green vegetables are not or should not be considered edible. Ok, so I'm a fussy eater. Raspberry, it has gotten so in order to rent an apartment you will be needing a BA or higher in order to rent. Of course location says a lot about what rent you will be paying, too. Wishing you luck in finding an apartment that suits you.

I like parsnips, but they don't seem to be common here in Germany. And I like raw carrots, cucumbers and peppers, but have heard that raw vegetables are not good for people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

My turn to be nosy, hex...I get the impression that you are American. Correct me if I err. But I'm a mite curious as to where you are geographically located. I myself live in what I call Puddle City, aka Portland, Orygun, so I'm very familiar with the Pacific Northwest. I've been here all my life.

My boyfriend eats raw veggies as snacks (admittedly, with a lot of sauce), but he doesn't suffer for it. It is more liquorish and chocolate that does it for him.

I submitted this morning and we should find out in the next couple of days if we are approved. There were a lot of seriously interestd people at the inspection yesterday. But we offered to pay 3 months up front and have a 10 year rental history with no issues, so hopefully that puts us on top of the pile.

raspberrybullets: With a 10yr rental history, Plus 3 months in advance? I think you should start making plans to move in. tangent: Niagara Falls is about a 2 hour drive from where I am if we take the expressway. A little longer on back roads.
