Wikipedia says Curraweela has a population of 47. Is that 47 kangaroos?

I'm sure I counted more than 47.

Snowroos!
Yes, tornadoes are rare here, as well, but we do have them and when they do happen, they can do stuff like rip a roof off a school, like the last one did. So far, we've had no mortality or morbidity due to them, but the incidence seems to increasing.

The day dawned partly cloudy and has changed to mostly cloudy. Nice.

It's very hot and sunny here... well, for Manchester. Today's maximum is 25°C whilst tomorrow it will be 29°C or 30°C. Quite unusual for the end of August.

Similar here - 28 already if the "forecasts" are to be believed.

Hottest late August bank holiday weekend ever, with temperatures reaching 33.3°C in west London.
Only 29°C here but I still need a drip guard on my chin. No air conditioning at our house.

We had a fair amount of overcast and a day of real rain a couple of days back.
Now, we seem to be in a warming trend. The doors are open now, but I'll have to shut up as the day progresses, just to stay comfortably cool.
The sun is out.

We have had a thunderstorm here for hours which sounded like it couldn't decide whether to stay or to go. At the moment it seems to have settled for staying.

It has been in the mid-30s yesterday and today. Everybody here is hoping the promise of easing down to more moderate temperatures will be realized.

Promise fulfilled....It broke in the night.
I was awakened by the cats and noticed light flashes which seemed like they were coming from next door.
I wondered what the new neighbors were up to, until I stepped out on the balcony. It was dark, cool, and a heavy rain was falling. Then, a flash of lightning.

Stepping out on to the balcony during a thunderstorm is slightly hazardous. My son stood in a doorway during a thunderstorm and was hit by lightening. (He survived.) (I take it you did also )

(I take it you did also ) True...But the balcony is that mostly in name. It's four feet above ground level, all wood, covered with a fabric awning (on a metal frame!), and surrounded by several much taller stands of Douglas firs. In all my thirty years here, I've actually seen one lightning strike....a tall Doug fir about 200 feet to the southeast.

We just had a very short thunderstorm here. It came in so quickly and out just as quickly. But the washing ballooned up like it was about to blow away (I had a sheet over the line on the balcony) and it went dark and windy. Now it's relatively calm again. First day of spring.

You reckon the first day of spring to be September 1? We consider the first Monday in September to be the unofficial end of summer (this weekend). Monday tomorrow is a national holiday called Labor Day. The unions, weak as they are, still claim the day as theirs. But really, it tends to be the last big BBQ shindig, down by the riverside, commemorating the end of summer national holiday. The equinox is come mid- to late September. It will come time to light a lamp and curse the darkness. In this hemisphere, at least.

It was stinkin' hot in Cuba last week (I have a million mosquito bites) but it's definitely cooling off here in Montreal. Daytime highs in the low twenties and down to 14 or so at night. Sigh. The party's over...

Partly cloudy and warm. Dry, though.
Wow...Cuba sounds delightful. Do you have to vaccinate for yellow fever or other tropical diseases to travel there? Mosquitoes prompts this question.

No, not for there. I did do the Yellow Fever shot when I went on one of my trips --Colombia maybe? or Cambodia. I am a bit under the weather now though with some tummy issues and a vicious cold sore. At least it didn't happen while I was on my vacation!
