I get a olive-oil spread that doesn't, possibly isn't allowed to, call itself margarine. (Or butter obviously.) I use butter in cooking. Ain't no one got time to wait for it to soften.

That butter bell looks quite cool. I like these low-tech sciencey things

The spreadable stuff is better than ordinary butter but it still does not actually spread straight from the fridge, despite its grandiose claims

Lurpak spreads very easily if you leave a blob on the bread for 10 seconds.

Only on EF could 2 pages of a thread on someone's observations of their travels get devoted to an argument about toast and butter.

Elections? There are elections? I have looked for commentary, but aside from EFers, had only one, in the apple pie in Ambleside. I don't overhear much in the pubs. I think you warned me to expect such. Heh - Facebook is full of it, but we don't do it in real life. At least not with people whose political views we don't know. There's the cliché of the ranting taxi driver, but I think most Brits don't discuss politics in public. Lots on the news and in newspapers, though. Does it differ much from a US election run-up? The cabbies I have spoken to are more interested in me, where I am from, why I am here, and they might float Trump's name to see how I react. When I wince and facepalm, they have generally nodded nodded sympathetically and changed the subject. Nobody wants to talk about their own elections, except maybe to answer my questions about functional details.

Toast and butter? We have somewhat mellowed. Buttered toast, eaten in one's fanciest underwear, after sex. How's that?

In an earlier post he said:
I think the Telford thing was partly for the Cosford air show which happened Saturday and Yesterday. I think "Whittleford Station" is probably really Whittlesford Station - which is in Cambridgeshire near the Duxford Imperial War Museum - and then it sounds like he's heading back home around next weekend.

Rack of ribs (mainly finger food) and a bit of chicken. And salad.
Yes, we talked for a long time and nearly forgot to pay.

Kelly can take that as an invitation or as a caveat, it is up to him, I just like to keep people informed.

In the spirit of keeping people informed, I should comment that Miisa likes the British Museum. As do I.

We try to visit part of it every time I visit London. So far I think we have seen maybe a fifth(?) in four trips? I think they build new departments and wings faster than we can visit them.

I think I couldn't get out of the British Museum fast enough. Too much stuff, not enough in context. I am a very contextual person. I don't care to see a thing out of it's place and be told "this thing lives in country x and is part of ancient thing y". I want to see the thing in country x as part of ancient thing y and then it's very interesting.

It is so much stuff indeed, which is why I couldn't do more than a room or two in a day.

I think this is why I enjoy sculpture gardens so much. Not sure what it is about museums and galleries, but they sure don't make it easy to stay in the space for long. But an outdoor art gallery - that's perfect!
