I am presently at the Red Lion in Whittlesford Bridge, which is within spittin distance of the Whittlesford Parkway train station. Whittlesford Parkway is one stop south of Cambridge on the line which terminates at tbe Liverpool Street station.
I am here because of the proximity to the IWM @ Duxford and ready access by train in to London. My plans were to take in the IWM and train in to London to do British Museum samplings and at least one Tate visit. The weekend is a bit problematic in terms of a moot, because my Dragon flight is Sunday morning from Duxford Field. Saturday is entirely uncommitted, though. I am most willing to meet up and would love to wander bits of the BM with company (I have only been once, briefly, to see the Sutton Hoo exhibit.
I can come on to London amy other day of thos wek, but suspect that others have workaday lives that interfere.

I saw a mummy, but that was at a Berlin museum. I might have seen one in the British museum too. Yawn. Now if it had been in a pyramid, that would be cool.
And I've got other plans this weekend anyhow JoeP so ner.

Then it's a go. How do you want to accomplish this? My preference would be that you meet me at the London Liverpool Street station as I alight from the train. Is that reasonblable?

Entirely reasonblablable. I'd suggest meeting around lunchtime and Museuming until you need to get back or until we've had enough. I don't know about "as you alight from the train". That would require a platform ticket. You probably won't need to book a train ticket on a Saturday. What time do you think?

So, are there more than a single Way Out of Liverpool Street Station? If so, there is a high probability I will find 'the other one. 'Book a train ticket'? Wuzzat? You mean buy a ticket? Is it free on Saturdays? I have a BritRail FlexiPass with four days remaining on it. I can go anywhere in the UK the rail system will take me in a day. I have been tiketing only for short hops (like, say, in to Cambridge) and the charge is negliable. It is funny...when I pull out the pass, train conductors' eyes seem to glaze over; a goodly portion don't even check to see if I've filled in the current date, like I'm spozed to.

You could meet at the Kindertransport memorial - lots of people will be able to direct you to that if you can't find it yourself, and it's interesting to look at anyway.

I was typing a post suggesting that very spot, but my computer ate it.
Kelly do you have a mobile phone with texting capability? At least to confirm which train you've boarded?

Heh...I have a smartphone, but I am not a smart user. I have been using Messenger as my 'phone text' app. I fear performing a 'Moosarectomy' to the system... But, I can easily announce which train I'll be taking in by scanning the times on Google Maps, making my selection, and posting...where?...It is only 150 feet from the front door of the inn to the in-bound platform and the inn has fairly decent wifi.

Right. I don't have Messenger, since I hate it with a passion. If nothing else works I can still retrieve such messages via the browser on my phone.
If you discover the ability to use SMS, I've put my mobile number in the address thread.

You could always use your phones in the old fashioned way, and actually talk to each other.
...though I know that the phone companies charge more for doing that than they do when you use your phone like a computer instead of a phone.

What's this talking thing you mention? I'm not sure the latest phones have this feature.

Cep are you in London? Nazz? No - I live in the Midlands. In fact this Saturday I'll be at an air show near Telford like Kelly was last weekend. But I'm going to a model air show at Weston Park - it's just a few miles from Cosford on the opposite side of the M54 motorway. There will be a model air show at Cosford too in a few weeks time, but I'll most likely miss that one because I like to watch and listen to the 250 mph pulse jet models. They use an engine like the buzz bombs had in WW2. There's no throttle control - the engines are either flat out or stopped. You can hear them from about seven miles away. They're normally at Weston but not Cosford for some reason. In the video below you see them being started up and launched from about 0:45 onwards.

I live in the village/small town of Studley. It's close to Redditch. Stratford upon Avon is about 12 miles from here and Birmingham is about 18 miles.

Okay, everybody...
Google Maps is telling me that if I catch an 8:52 am inbound train at Whittlesford Parkway, I will arrive at Liverpool Street station at 10:35 am.
If that is too early, it can be delayef exactly one hour.
Any druthers?
