I feel a bit like a cat kidnapper!
During the summer a black cat visited our unkempt garden. My husband, who is not as fond of cats as I am but wanting to be kind, gave the cat cream. Needless to say, the cat kept coming to get cream. I think it is a neutered male cat and that he is rather old. He wanted to play but was a bit slow. I lifted him up but ha wanted to get away.
After some weeks he finally jumped into my lap. He was a cautious cat, for some time he had looked like ha wanted to, sitting at my feet and looking at me. And finally he took the step, at first tentatively putting a front paw on my lap, and then his whole body. Trampling and pourring and finally falling asleep.
I think his owners work during the day and also are occupied in the evening, not having time sitting with the cat on their laps.
For weeks I have not seen him, thinking he prefers stayting inside his own home now that the winter is coming. But yesterday he appeared again. My husband gave him cream but he stayed on, wanting to be fondled. I put on my winter coat and some pads to sit on. The cat jumped up on my lap, pourring happily. But it is cold to sit still outside and I had to go to town. I went away but left the pads for him to lie on. When I left, he was still lying on the pads.
Several hours later I returned. (The bike had a puncture so I had to walk home with the bike, which took over an hour.) The time was over 9 pm. I went out to take in the pads. The cat was still lying there! Or perhaps he had been home but returned.
But I feel like we have "kidnapped" the cat, that he really wants to move to us. He wants to get inside our house but we will not let him, then we would really be kidnapping him
PS: I was looking up "smeka katten" on Google translate. The translation was "beating the cat".
translate.google.se/?hl=sv#sv/en/smeka%20katten
The real translation is "fondling the cat".
