Anyone else seen Cabin In the Woods?
I loved it, but most people who I know who saw it just thought it odd, or disturbing, or depressing, or all three. I am not a big watcher of horror films, so I suspect a lot of the nuances went right past me, but still, big with the love from here.

DG and I saw it. We also loved it! In fact, I would love to see it again. I'm sure I missed plenty of the nuances but I know enough horror cliches to have enjoyed all the ones broken. Not sure why people would find it depressing though.

Some people complained about the ending, and felt it was a downer.

Truth hurts maybe. I don't want to spoil for anybody not having seen it of course but it may be that the earth is better off that way.

My money's on a woodland area, probably containing a cabin around which the plot is centred in some way.

Refresh my memory. Is that the one with pancakes?

No pancakes, IIRC. But here is an evil unicorn.

After reading this it seems a bit more familiar.

I LOVED the Ending! It was perfect! But I'm geeky enough to appreciate that sense of humour.

I also liked it, but for the appearance of the old ones. Tentacles would have been better.
BTW, I read somewhere that Universal Orlando are planning a Cabin in the Woods maze for next halloween.

Pointless Sunday afternoon thread bumping aside, I'm totally in favour of giant tentacles for that ending.

It's a very windy Sunday afternoon. There are tents outside but I don't think anybody wants to be out there listening to the music.

It's a very topical thread bumping, DG, what with the recent news of dangers in cabins in the woods ... in Norway.

If the expectations of the storm are anything to go by, we can all use our tents as big box kites tomorrow! I am holding out my verdict until Tuesday as I am very cynical about the accuracy of these reports. Someone beat me to it!

We just rewatched it. It was actually even better second time around. You pick up on a lot more things and see just how clever the movie really is. Very, very clever and funny.
