You haven't heard of last year's film The Avengers?!? Doctor Horrible was an internet series Whedon made with his brothers and friends during the writer's strike. No, you misunderstood me. I'd heard of The Avengers of course, just not Dr. Horrible. And upon further thought, I guess I had heard of Cabin in the Woods, but am not a horror fan, so probably just forgot about it.

I hate that they called it The Avengers as it always immediately conjures up in my mind the British TV series with John Steed, in its various guises.

Which is why the called it Avengers Assemble in the UK.

Shake, Cabin in the Woods, is not like any other Horror Movie you've seen. I can't take Horror Movies, I really can't. But Cabin is just great. (Having said that there is a scene or two where I hid my eyes)

I was just thinking that Dollhouse does have some brilliant moments/episodes that I could count as some of the best Whedon stuff ever (like the episode with Alpha, but I won't say more in order not to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet). So while it's probably not my fave series overall it probably has one of my fave moments ever.

I loved when Topher would interact with himself --weird but cute.

Yes, that was a delight. Overall the actor of Victor was a positive surprise. I have glimpsed him in a few small parts since, but nothing as big as he deserves.

I went with Buffy, Firefly, and Dr. Horrible. I consider Serenity to be part of Firefly, and I have not yet seen The Avengers, or Cabin in the Woods.

Ah another summer project! I only watched Dollhouse over Pirate Queen's shoulder and she was not very forthcoming about taking time away to explain to me all the plot developments that I missed. I really should watch all the episodes in order. *Wonders who I can borrow the DVDs from.

We has them. But not sure they'd work in your region. I did enjoy Dollhouse a lot. It really is very difficult to pick the best ones, even if I get to pick 3. Still haven't voted,

DVD regions are annoying, but I rip all mine to my server now so they all work the same. I blame the manufacturers, otherwise I'd not have had to import a number of things from the US because they'd not been released over here.

I ended up ripping and re-burning my entire Buffy and Angel DVD collection because the multitude of warnings and legal notices and that abominable "You wouldn't steal a car" every time I changed discs. Driving me nuts.
Plus, this way I get to have more episodes on one disc (less disc switching), don't have to keep zig-zagging between episode menus for every episode, and I get the whole verse in order (Buffys and Angels in the orders they were shown so the crossovers intersect).

I do own season one of Buffy. And season II of Sherlock, now that's a DVD that makes you want to pirate the originals because they force you to sit through ALL the ads, and there are a lot before you can watch anything.

I now have many DVDs that I have never directly watched. I usually just stick them in the computer and dump the useful content to the server. I am amazed at the crap you have to plough through to get to the film (or whatever) some times. I do have some cracked software around, too, despite owning the originals, as I detest having to put CDs in the drive, look up manual entries (on old games) and go through all the hoops that the stolen stuff doesn't do at all. A lot of games seemed to make it into a punishment for buying it!

Yes, those warning notices really piss me off. If I actually have a dvd with warning notices on it that means I have a legal copy you dumbarse arseholes. So don't patronise me and imply I am a thief. They just make me want to make copies so I can avoid the hours of that bullshit. And most of the time you can't even skip that bit. They punish the people who actuall pay for the dvd.

So, I'm off to a Toronto Browncoats Screening of Dr. Horrible Sing A Long Blogs today, down in Toronto. Believe it or not but I have not seen it yet in its entirety. There is a costume contest so We are ALL going in Lab coats (Phil, myself, Chelsea (who is now going by the name Elaine, which is her second name), and two of her room mates from University, ... so 5 of us in Lab coats... and ordinary safety glasses,,, not exactly regulation Dr. Horrible Goggles, but the best we can manage.

I saw the first episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D yesterday. It was okay, but I am not sure if I will be watching it long-term until after a few more episodes. I think it could still go either way. Fortunately it is available on my on-demand stuff so I won't have the usual problem of missing episodes of things because I forget when they are on.

Recently saw Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog again, and love it more each time. Didn't watch with the Commentary! track now, though, need to do that again.
I am quietly optimistic about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, it was very action-packed and entertaining, and for Whedon pilot managed to make me quite interested in the characters. But then I love Coulson beyond decency, and as long as he is in it, and it has Whedon humour, I would watch a dramatized phone book.

I really liked Firefly alright. Mal reminded me a bit of James Raynor between his desertion of the Confederacy and becoming a Marshall in the Mar Sara wastelands.
The Firefly universe even has a mild resemblance to the StarCraft one in some ways.
And Whedon is such a good writer I laughed so hard at many scenes. I liked Serenity for the wrap up, but I'd have to see that again, plus the series.
The Avengers I greatly enjoyed. Loki interrupted sure as hell got me laughing.
Cabin in the Woods really had me hooked for most of it, I thought it was pretty well done.
Dollhouse was darn good too, but different. More intriguing most of the time.
But yeah, that Whedon humour is undeniably great. Glad he got his hands on something big, hope he gets to play with more stuff because of it.

I'll go with Avengers, Firefly and Cabin for now. I liked the Buffy and Angel series, but maybe because of the length of it, I remember too many slow and not so great times as well.
