Grew up a Liberal Democrat, yet is now standing for Conservative PM? What kind of trauma causes that? Does anybody know? Many MPs have switched sides in their careers. Winston Churchill started out as a Liberal in his early days before switching to the Conservative Party in 1924 shortly after the rise of the Labour Party.

Could just be that she wants power, and is happy to change her politics to obtain it. That would explain both her party switch, and her switch from remain to leave.

So, absence of principle is the byword for obtaining power?

It worked for Boris, and Truss was always one of his staunchest supporters.

So more of the same if she becomes prime minister? Ugh!

Well, she'll have stock in maintaining that postion. It's not much different here. And getting worse by the year.
I'd say that the US is, constitutionally, where the UK was back in the 19th century 'Rotten Boroughs' era, manipulated by a kleptonomic plutocracy that fancies itself the new aristocracy.

After the third round of voting, Penny Mordaunt hasn't picked up any votes from the demise of Suella Braverman. With Kemi Badenoch supporters likely to transfer all of their votes to Liz Truss - because both Truss and Badeoch are right-wing - it would appear that Penny Mordaunt will not be in the top two even if Tom Tugendhat supporters transfer all of their votes to her.

A succinct statement on the current US situation. Seems like it might apply to the recent Tory fracas.

After an untrainable Johnson, you're gonna get a Truss.

There are conflicting reports in the opinion polls amongst Tory members as to who will eventually win. The final two will almost certainly be Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss and the betting odds favour Liz Truss. But the betting odds change markedly on a daily basis. So too do journalist's opinions that all measure different things. But at this stage, I reckon the Daily Mail will have undo influence on the final result and so I'm expecting Liz Truss to be elected. A good result for the Labour Party but a bad result imo for the country.
Meanwhile, the Telegraph reports that more than 2000 people have signed a petition calling for Boris Johnson to be added to leadership ballot, so members can have a say on if he should carry on.

It depends on whether Truss manages to avoid saying or doing something monumentally stupid during the next five or six weeks: if she can avoid those pitfalls, then she's probably our next Prime Minister.
Amazing, isn't it? If the twists and turns of the Tory party over the last twenty years had been the plot of some Netflix series, I'd have stopped watching it by now - thinking it too ludicrous and unbelievable to be worthwhile continuing.

Forgive me, I've heard that one before.
And our Supreme Court justices are just ethical by nature.

The resurfaced video of her as an eighteen year old telling the Lib Dem conference that the monarchy should be scrapped will do her some damage I think.
