944059 That's a shame, Kye. Will you consider adopting a different kind of dog?

Yeah, probably. I'm off to Costa Rica at the end of the months for 2 weeksso Tasha and I will look into it when I'm back.

I've been buying loaves of bread and steak pies from Greenhalgh's in Marple for several years. But today, for the first time, I was told I qualified for a 10% discount because I was over 60. Oh well, that's nice to know. I pity the assistants who have to ask, "Are you over 60," to charge the right amount. I would prefer them not to have to do that.

How do we ensure there is no danger to life when opening the controller for our boiler thermostat? Switch off the power? No, the Honeywell manual tells us to "Ensure that the device is de-energised." O-k-a-y.

That's probably engineering-legal speak for "switching off the power might not be enough, there might be some charge in capacitors or something so we'd better make it sound more complicated in case we get sued"

944 052 As of yesterday our girl can stand up. This means that everything on floor height is disdained, lots of falling on her head and crying and emergency lowering of beds etc.

944 046 I met Caiaphas* tonight. The artist from the original Jesus Christ Superstar musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber. At 85 or so, he still has a deep resounding voice with all the artistic resonance of the original production. He comes to Marple every year - to a small gathering of 20 people known as Quack - and is always welcome. Surprisingly, he remembered me from when I bought him a red wine a few years ago. Or was it from last year when we also met? He has a gig in the South of France next week. *High priest who sees Jesus as a threat to the nation.

I visited a car repair shop this morning to have some repairs done. A few months ago, a careless driver clipped my wing mirror. The front cover was detached and broke a clip holding it in position. So, I made a temporary repair with green tape just to keep the rain out.
This morning, I asked about getting it replaced. The garage mechanic said, "Yes, the part costs £35 but it has to be painted, which costs another £35." I blanched. He advised me to replace the green tape with black and save myself £70. Which I was happy to do.

A man called the church office on Tuesday to ask if the church had CCTV [answer, no]. Today, we discover several flagstones have been stolen from the graveyard. Uh huh.

The Eastern Church knows nothing of Valentine preferring two of its missionary saints to commemorate today.
Roses are red, Onions are odious, it used to be Valentine, now it's Cyril and Methodius.

Hi FrG!
This cranky old celibate avoided the whole issue by preaching the Sunday lectionary today. If thine eye offends thee, pluck it out!
