Mine is a bit old for toys. She seems to dose off readily. I am glad she looks healthy and is with good appetite

My two are both still youngsters, but Murray is younger by half and shows it in an abiding interest in ruffhausing, shredding and puncturing my hands in the process. Cleo is still playful, but far more reserved and does not need to subdue every human hand that enters her life. My biggest problem with Cleo is keeping her away from jumping on my shoulders right after I have exited the shower.....

Of late, they've decided that they like to congregate at the window over my workbench. It is a second floor window (first floor for Eurps) overlooking a Japanese snowbell tree and the duplex next door. I didn't quite understand what the draw was until I noted one day that the bushtits seemed to like to gather in the branches of the tree. The window is kitty television. Plus, I'm within easy watching distance, the computer being across the room.

Beautiful kitties! The one at the window looks quite a bit like my Abyssinian/Siamese.

No doubt. We think she is most likely an Abyssinian/American Shorthair mix. She's got distinct Abyssinian traits. She's very chatty, for one.

Thanks...I think I could have composed it better without the plasticware under the table, but hey.... Here's a close-up showing Murray's extra digit on his left paw. He almost has 'opposable thumb' status.

Cats with thumbs! Humans beware! Regarding your shower problem. I should think that'd be easily solved by closing the door of the bathroom.... Even DG got a little cat whipped the last two months with Lily taking over his lap a lot.

Close the door? That would be interference in the perogatives of the Overlords! Cleo has to keep an eye on everything!
(Yeah, I know....the first incident was because the bathroom door had been left ajar...Cleo pushed it open far enough to get in. I've also learned that using a standard bath towel as a cape works dandy as a shoulder protection.)

Murray is expanding prodigously. He's growing like a weed. He still acts like a little brother towards Cleo, but he's finally starting to become more measured in his still clumsy and rambunctious actions. The two cats are quite different, yet they are very devoted to each other. They groom each other and often sleep atop each other.
Cleo had some intriguing preferences. She likes to leap to human shoulders to express her affection, but she also has some kind of 'tightrope walker' attitude. She likes to balance herself atop a chairback on the narrow defile of the top slat. She paces the bannister far above a decending stairway. She prefers hard cold surfaces to 'squirrel about', like inside the clawfoot tub, or the shower surround, which is tile and glass. In the latter, she likes to yowl. She's an incorrigible nosy parker, constantly wandering the house poking her nose into spaces. She also longs to go outside and spent much of today perched at the screen door in the back door of the house, watching all the activity in the back yard. (It was a beautiful spring day.) She is a sleek and svelte rugshark.
Murray has no interest in going outdoors at all. The cold wind of an open door is unwelcome to Murray. He is a budding bedlump. He loves his various bed selections about the house (along with regular food and an indoor toilet). He loves the sparklepom and will play 'string' for hours on end, and has. Although he's still got the feral 'jumpiness', he's slowly but surely outgrowing it. He actually slept cuddled up to me a couple nights back...that was a big step for him.
Murray is a klutz. An endearing klutz, but a klutz none the less. We think it's because he has extra front toes and concomitant extra front claws that snag. He has big mitts. He's soft and fluffy and is really beginning to like all the petting that he gets because of it. His trait is to facepalm by finding a human hand left unattended and plunge his face directly into the palm of the hand and push it through...a 'self-pet' behavior. He's come to like sleeping smack in the center of the human bed, belly up and exposed, and he snores.
When this pair finally catches up with the local mouse population, it will probably be nosy Cleo who finds them, but she'll probably turn it over to Murray to play with, as he prefers, and is better at, the chase on the ground, whereas she prefers and is better at the aerial target....we suspect she may be a bird hunter, but at the moment, she lusts after playing with the SQRLs outside.
We think Murray will be a bull-necked tutored tom.

Hmmm...I must not have posted that last one. I thought I'd replied already.
Anyway...They would not let us take her away from the shelter the day we committed to adopt her, because she was already scheduled for her spaying. When we picked her up, she had a shaved tummy and a tiny scar. She still has short hairs on her tummy. So, yes, she is irreproducible.
As for Murray, the nipped ear means he has been 'tutored'.

Murray is watching tree-vee at the workbench. I love it that they hang there, but it worries me, particularly with a klutz like Murray. I have to be fairly fastidious about my ongoing projects.

Sorry you probably already had replied and I'd forgotten Well, I quite commonly write out an entire screed and then, before I actually post it to the appropriate forum, I click to some other shiny object, thereby obliterating my entire post. The thing is, it still sticks in my mind has having authored and posted it.

Murray discovered the back yard today...looking out my back screen door. He seems to be fascinated with the chickens, something which does not seem to have interested Cleo at all.

I hope he does not attempt to eat the chickens LOL...That'd be something to see, considering that each is about twice his size at this point. Ingrid, my current alpha hen, used to harass Hobbes and chase him through the back yard. They finally negotiated a peace that allowed him transit rights.
