The first of May is the day for the worker's parties to demonstrate, usually the Social Democrats and the Communists. But in Jönköping the police allowed the Nazis to demonstrate on the same day. Why? Freedom of speach, my ...! The police could have told them to demonstrate on another day. This was just asking for trouble.

It turned out well, nobody was seriously injured this time, due to the massive police presence.
But in another city a girl lost her life, the police cried, the personell in the hospital cried.

Today, two days after her death the parents were finally informed in Gaza. But they have already been informed by people on Facebook. Trying to call their relations was in vain, since these relations were taken in by the police.
Could this have been prevented? Neighbours said that the 8-year old often was found in the laundry in the basement. This was her job. A two-year old was once found outside the flat on the stairs, the grown-ups hade gone and left the 8-year old to watch the small children. She was seen barefoot. One day she her leg was so injured that she could hardly walk and she had a blue eye. "I fell", she said. On Good Friday a neighbour phoned the police. The police did not come but sent a reprot to the social services. Nobody came to the office until Tuesday but the social worker had no time to open her post. She did not open it until the after the girl's death.
So the question is, are more to blame than the killers? Should the police have acted more decisively, should the social services have better routines, should the neigbours called sooner, should the teachers in school have reacted (seen the bruises)? Obviously the girl's biological parents thought that she would be safer in Sweden than in Gaza but they seem to have treated her like a little household slave.
Last year, extreme-left counter-demonstrators attacked the march. Sveriges Television (SVT) reported that the tumult left five people injured. The police called in reinforcements from nearby districts and in the end detained 29 people. The counter-demonstrators also set several cars alight.
Despite last year's events, Stefan Hector of the Jönköping police defended granting a new permit this year.
"Police are politically colour blind," he told the TT news agency on Wednesday. "We protect the the right to share your opinion regardless of what it is."

A 31-year-old man and a 30-year old woman were arrested during the early hours of Thursday morning. Police are currently holding the pair on suspicion of probable cause.
The suspects are not the girl's parents but police disclosed that they had a "certain relationship" with the victim.
"They are not her parents. Her parents have not been informed and are abroad," Lotta Hansson of the Blekinge police told the TT news agency.
She added to Sveriges Television (SVT); "We have not yet got hold of them."
