I thought this video was interesting and I wanted to share it. The viking and Napoleon ones were completely new to me. I heard of lady Godiva's story in passing, but I wasn't quite familiar with it. The Vomitorium thing reminds me of that bit in The Hunger Games trilogy, where Catniss is appalled to see the citizens of the Capitol during feasts eating a lot of food, and then vomiting all of it on purpose, just to try more courses, while the rest of the country was in famine. So that was based on a misconceived reference to the Roman Empire and its decadence. Anyways, here's the video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYzfKiIWN4g

That video was great! I also like the one about the 8 animal misconceptions.

Of course, I already knew that the Vikings did not have horned helmets. Do people really believe they did? Shows that people are more interested in popular culture than in facts.
About Lady Godiva, I have always thought that it was false. But then I did not even know that she had existed. The story just was "too good to be true".
About Columbus, I have never thought that he was the only one who believed that the earth is round. But it was news to me that he in fact discovered America b/c he was wrong about the size of the earth. Would he ever have reached China or India if the Americas were not in the way? Maybe they would all have died of thirst and hunger then. (And the Norse Leif Eriksson was the first to discover America.)
The length of Napoleon I did not know, 170 cm. So the Romans did not throw up their food in order to eat more? I always thought that, though I never heard of the word "vomitorium".
