I woke at dawn and went to the bathroom then got back into bed and managed to kneel on Pip who was wrapped up in the duvet. There was a loud yelp and I scrambled to uncover him, terrified that I might have really injured him As it was he seemed okay though he gave me a filthy 'watch what you're doing you clumsy human oaf' look. I watched him closely for the next hour to make sure he wasn't hurt but he seemed okay and not too put out. I've worried for years that I might one day do something like this given that he sleeps under the covers with me and can't be seen. I really need to be more careful but I am not at my sharpest at six am

They (cats in general) don't seem to be very good at risk management.

I think he just assumes that I will always know where he is and will be careful. And I do try to keep in mind that he is often hidden from sight but really was clumsy this time. I do not know which bit of him I put my weight on but thank God it was (apparently) not his head

I have trodden on cats' tails before now and elicited very strong protests. No one wants to harm any pets but they can be irritatingly hazardous sometimes.

I think all cat owners stand on the odd tail now and then. I have long had a theory that cats have tails only to put them in the way of human feet to get treats and cuddles when said human is caught out

Ooh. That's not the proper protocol. One must kneel before thine Feline Overlord, not on him. I hope thou dost not get smited.

He still seems to be thinking about it. THough he is thinking about it whilst cuddled beside me which is a good sign

I have kicked mine several times when I turned around and moved, not noticing one of the cats had followed. They tend to give me a hurt look, but they are not actually hurt.

Deborah kicked our cat off her bed and into a wardrobe door whilst she was dreaming once. The cat was asleep too and woke up rather startled.

He seems to have no lasting effects but I've been amused that the last couple of nights he has slept on my pillow instead

A long time ago, I managed to all but jump on one of our cats, who was curled up in a plastic bag. Someone else realised she was in there and shouted at the last moment. I managed to not put much weight down, but the cat was more than startled. Took me a long time to get over the shock.
