Just CAUGHT Luthy weeing on the bed. Tried to stop her but she just kept on. Why on EARTH has she started doing this? There was a clean litter tray in the corner of the room!

I discussed this problem with my vet recently because of Tybbe. You can try making the litter tray more attractive by dripping a bit of Valerian tincture in it, or discourage your bed as tray by dripping a few peppermint oil drops on your bed. The latter will only work if you've gotten the original smell of the urine out, because if not, they'll recognise it as a peeing is permitted place.
Is she at all stressed? If it really worries you, you can have a vet examine her pee for medical reasons. My Tybbe quit just as out of the blue as he started though.

She does not seem stressed ... she is affectionate as ever. I wonder if she is trying to claim the bed - and by extension me - as her own territory though. Maybe it's coinidence that Pip has not slept with me the last few days but maybe not. I've put all the bedding on to boil but there was still a lingering smell after last time

That was useful, thanks. As she is not straining and there is no blood I am hoping that it's not something medical. There are four litter trays in the house so that is two each, and there was one near here when she did the erroneous widdle. According to that link tho as it was a horizontal surface she was not territory marking. Hm. I don't think that she is stressed or distressed about anything but I will keep an eye on her. I was slightly relieved to read that I am not the only person who has had a cat wee on their bed tho

Little Picard had that problem. He would widdle on our bed. But then...he was pretty stressed with illness.

Again, use bio soap on your bedding. If it's your mattress as well, dissolve a bit of soda in warm water and use it on the spots on your mattress where it smells. Don't have to use huge quantities.

I think that's what I mean. Here we have "green soap" that has no added chemicals and stuff, but I can't find the English equivalent. Even the brands of green soap we have here don't seem to be international.

So did it work? Did she stop peeing on your bed?

I cannot keep a rug on my floor. It's too much like grass for my dog.

Suddenly I love our piggies even more. They just pee in their cages.

I caught Tinker at the weekend, squatting on the stairs. He normally uses the tray, but once he starts somewhere else, I have to repeatedly wash the carpet and obstruct that place to break him out of it again. It's most annoying!

Yikes. Not good. But that's probably all you can do.
