Who watched it and what did you think of it?

I watched it. Peter Capaldi didn't disappoint, but then I don't think he ever has, although I hope he cheers up just a little bit. I wasn't a big follower of the Matt Smith series so I don't know much about Clara, but she seemed OK... though overly perky at times, so just on the edge of irritating.
I thought the dialogue was a bit clunky at some points and quite a lot of the time I didn't have a clue what was going on, even though it was actually all a bit slow. Overall I still much prefer Russell T's storylines.
I had absolutely no idea who the lesbian lizard and her ninja wife were - are they regular characters?
I was intrigued and a bit chilled by the end bit though, with the creepily barmy Michelle Gomez character in 'Heaven' - what was that about?

I have a theory about Missy ... she's an older, or different timeline, Clara. But I don't have much evidence for this More theories here: Who is Missy in Doctor Who?

Juju - madam Vastra, Jenny and Stax were in the Christmas special called The Snowmen, and have been more minor characters in a few epiodes since. I love that episode, especually for Strax.

Strax not Stax. I think you got up too early

My wife does not like Dr Who and will not usually watch it but she says she is going to watch again next week. I think she fancies Peter Capaldi.

Joanne has watched two episodes now. Must be a record.

Moosie ... I have reason to believe you have expressed opinions on Peter Capaldi on other sites. Post here!
Spoilers follow for episode 2
...
...
I thought it was a pretty standard Doctor Who episode, not brilliant but not disappointing.
Very cool that they went inside a Dalek ... and reasonably well done in terms of storyline although neither plausible as a Dalek interior (the antibodies! the memory banks!) nor consistent with what we've seen before (shouldn't biological bit of the Dalek have filled up a lot more of the interior?)

From the scientific point of view, very disappointing. They broke every scientific law you can imagine.

I found it disappointing and so far I really have not warmed to Capaldi. I realise it's early days though and hopefully he might grow on me.He juts does not have the charisma that Smith had

I absolutely hated Smith at first. Took a full season for me to warm to him. It could just be that I think the Doctor should better be in an older body, but I also feel like Capaldi grates me as a character now the way the Doctor is supposed to. This is a morally questionable being thousands of years old, not an all too easily likeable kid.

1200 years old surely

He said in ep one that he was 2000, remember that he lived for ages on end in the last Smith episode as well.

He said in ep one that he was 2000... Hm, a suspiciously round number.

That's like the joke about the museum curator who, when asked about the age of a dinosaur says, "It's 65 million and fifteen years old." "How can you be so accurate?" "I've been working here for 15 years and it was 65 million years old when I started!"

I think when you get to a certain age you stop being very precise. I spent pretty exactly three months being eight and three quarters. Now I am sort of fortyish.

me too Ecclestone's doc was nine hundred ... and by the time of Smith he was only bout 970. But he did spend ages as Smith ... weird ... as he cannot of been Ecc for long at all. I thought he had said something about 2000 in the first ep of this series but I ignored it cos it did not seem right

11 spent a few hundred years avoiding the Impossible Astronaut before showing up, IIRC. And then that millennium or so on the rural planet. But I don't think he is counting.

I missed the million on the rural planet !

A million would be hard to miss. But apparently a thousand can be spent in a single episode...

I'm a little disappointed with the new series. I watched the Robin Hood episode an d found it too corny for my taste. That's a pity as I really hoped PC would bring a bit of depth back to the program.
