We always buy our snacks in the supermarket and take them in with us. And yes Kaylee, we'll hate you, how dare you like a movie just because some of us don't!

If I buy snacks before going into the theatre, I have to hide them. You're officially not allowed to bring outside food into a movie theatre.

Yes, otherwise they will have to call the police and get you arrested for it! Popcorn is the biggest rip-off... the difference between cost of production and sale price is humongous!

I think they'd have to search everyone to really keep them from bringing their own snacks into the cinema.

I think if a bunch of people came in flaunting their snacks, they might be asked to leave, though.

In 2003, Easy Cinema tried to run a cinema where the ticket prices started really low and had no concession stands, but it closed down in 2006. Just shows that no matter how you try and help some people, they still will avoid spending the money, even if it is greatly reduced!

I saw the movie. It was good but the pacing was off. It felt about 20 minutes longer than it should have been.

That's a shame. I guess it helps when you have a DVD because you can stop for a break anytime.

Does something like this help your knee? Not the easiest thing to use in a cinema, I expect!

Colin, that hing in the picture I actually have at home, but it's too heavy to take it anywhere. That's what I have a bike for.

Yeah. I can imagine you trying to sneak that thing in, along with your homemade bucket of popcorn. You'd need a huge purse.

I don't think such a huge purse exists.

It's called a handbag, not a purse. This is a purse.

No, tangent, what you have there is a change purse. This here is a purse: Only old ladies carry a handbag.

I agree with Mr T! That's a handbag! I think what Kaylee needs is called a suitcase!

Maybe there's just a lot of old ladies in the UK.

I agree it's a handbag. A purse is for money.
I've got another Hobbit movie to watch. A colleague has lent me some animated version which apparently I will like. It's funny cos he kept defending the Jackson Hobbit movie to me and trying to convince me to go see it and since he's seen it he keeps complaining about "oh and another thing that I didn't like".

I agree it's a handbag. A purse is for money. This isn't the first time I've seen Oz go with the UK. We're with the Americans on this (except for the old ladies...)

I had a lot of confusion when I was younger and read read American teenage books which talked about things like purses and pumps. I figured out what half the stuff meant and just never understood the rest.

Yeah. And if it's a handbag, why does it hang from your shoulder? That would be a shoulder bag.

My purse hangs from my shoulder. Or I can hold it in my hand. The classic '50's stewardess purse-holding position:

Definitely handbag. But a handbag can hang from the shoulders as well, at least in the UK. Maybe someone can solve a related mystery for me. What is a 'pocketbook'? I've heard them referred to in books but not sure what they are. It's not something we have here (at least not called that).
