Okay question of the day: I just finished rereading Wuthering Heights and am now rereading Harry Potter six. It occurred to me that there are certain similarities, both in terms of appearance, character and circumstances, between Snape and Heathcliff. Thoughts?

Crossover fan fiction! You wanted something to write!

I feel there is more of a crossover between Clinton Eastwood and Heathcliff.
Both were 'The man with no name'

I don't know much about Clint Eastwood. For that read anything.

Heathcliff is a complete arsehole and a really nasty, evil person. Is Snape like that? I have only read the first couple HP books so I don't know much about him. Also, isn't Snape really pale? Heathcliff is described as dark. I did just rewatch season 2 of Buffy and thought Drusila might have been inspired by Catherine - but I wondered later if it's just the trope of the beautiful crazed woman - maybe it did start with WH of course.

Snape treated the son of his loved one very badly, as did Heathcliff. And whilst Snape was on the right side in the end, I think he was not much of a likeable person. Also both had long black hair and died around the age of forty. So that proves it

Saint Alan of the Rickmans ( who may the angels long preserve ) played the part of Obidiah Slope in an 80s version of 'Barchester Towers'. When I saw his portrayal of Snape it was hard not to compare the similarity of performances.
