I hope juju does not take offence but I am scared to open the one that already exists in case I see spoilers. This is great . Am on episode four. Bit hard to follow sometimes but my nephew keeps explaining what's going on.

I love GoT! I am a season behind people who can afford HBO, so I am also wary of spoilers.

There's actually no spoilers in the original thread because everyone was on different seasons, it's many just general opinions on the thing as a whole.

Yeah, I don't think the old thread has spoilers, it is not about the plot but rather who is watching and what they think. I got so much more of the back history from the books that either wasn't in the show or I missed it there. It has helped me relate to the characters much better. That being said, I like having a visual of the characters before reading about them if I am going to do both. For instance, had I read about Tyrion before seeing the show I think I would have been outraged by his good looks. But now that is... Tyrion.

I think you were on ep 5? Tyrion at the Eyrie and Ned being all detective-y?
Jeez, now I want to watch them all over again, but I just don't have the time.

Does the opening credit sequence change yet episode to episode in season 1? It seems to always show the locations that are visited in that episode. Quite handy.

Oh, and I realized that in the series you can often tell who is higher-born than someone else (when not very apparent from clothing and such, as in the Night's watch) from their RP accent. People of more humble ancestry will have more rural or local dialects. Just struck me as we saw the prologue before the first opening credits, where the smarmy attitude and accent is really all that tells you that one of the characters thinks himself better than the other two because he was born to money.
The Starks are Northerners, and sound like it, but that reflects their down-to-earthness more than other lordly families. And I think Jon Snow's accent is less posh than Robb's, or am I imagining it? Which makes little sense ans they grew up together, but maybe Robb as thefull-bloded heir feels he has to be a bit more posh? Kit Harrington, who plays Jon, has a very RP accent himself.

I've just removed the only post in the other thread that had slight spoilers in. The rest is safe if you want to look, Jo.

Thanks juju The more threads the merrier lol. Miisa I just noticed the thing about accent myself in episide seven which I am watching atm. The girl who was taken as a prisoner from beyond the wall has a distinct cockney twang..

Are you up to episode 7 yet? Is that the one where Tyrion dies?

Um I just looked at the other thread and saw a spoiler a few posts in about people who died which I'd rather not have seen I think I will stay here. I couldn't find it. I found one post by spaceflower that expresses distress about fearing favourite characters possibly dying at any moment or at some later point in the show and then has a list of the favourites, but it expresses fear for them, not their actual fates.

I read book 1 because so many students are interested, so I ordered the book and had to classify it for my library. I sorta liked the story though I did not feel I had to start reading book 2 right away. Still doesn't interest me in the series though.

Judging by FB you appear to have found it. Not sure whether you would thank or curse the person who provided that particular link/episode or not...

In the span of two episodes, two separate sods condemned themselves to death-by-cliche by telling Jon Snow that the next time they met they would 'explain everything'.
Season 1, episodes 2 and 3

You make a valid point.
I think I will respond to the next spoiler with one of my own.
