Horrible, horrible thing to happen, compounded by the fact that some asshole US politician or commentator is bound to make a big deal out of the date. A pox on them.

That is so sad, the poor people. Just shows how you don't know what could happen at any time R.I.P

I didn't dare open the video, but I know about the accident. Quite sad! What was almost as sad was seeing some responses by Arabic speakers, who commented that the victims were "so lucky" because they died while performing pilgrimage in Mecca, and now they'll go straight to Paradise.

Yes that is what my friend Islam said. I suppose it's one way of looking at it but it's definitely not how I would.

Well, it's understandable that a believer would look at it that way, but my problem was especially with the tone, which seemed indifferent to the pain felt by the victims though it may have lasted a few moments only, and certainly by their loved ones that would go on for much longer. It's almost as if they wished they died in that accident, or worse, hoping there would be more such accidents in Mecca! That's totally irresponsible, and even a bit scary!

As far as I know this is by no means the worst accident that has happened in Mecca during this period - though I've not heard of one affecting the Mosque personally before. Makes me a little bit sad. People can put silly interpretations on anything I suppose.
