I have mince pies, cheese straws, scotch eggs and some of that Italian bread/cake stuff that no-one really likes. Do all come!

Panettone. Toast it and spread some butter on it. Yum.

Sorry, it's all gone. I once made bread pudding using it. It was delish, but very rich.

Stollen and Lebkuchen are essential for Advent parties!

I hate stollen, but I really like mince pies. Sadly, mince pies are not available in Germany.

I went to the store last night to get an advent wreath for our dining room table. I didn't like the only one they had (too big and not very nice looking) so I bought supplies to make my own, which, naturally, cost more than just buying the wreath would have. I spent a few hours working on it so far, but I'm no where near done yet. This is one of those times when I really wish I was less of a perfectionist.
What is stollen? I saw that it's available at an import store I get coupons from. It looks like some kind of bread but that's all I can tell from the picture.

I love stollen. And mince pies. And gingerbread. And even more so, ninjabread. I like panettone but don't love it.

That would be lovely, Jo, but don't get stressed about it. We'll spend Christmas in Birmingham, so I'll be likely to get mince pies then.

I thought ninjabread was stollen? Why did you think that? Because ninjas don't stay in one place long enough to bake.

I used to be an Adventist, but I don't even know what Advent is. Four Sundays of preparation for Christmas ... although it used to be six Sundays of preparation for Epiphany also starting at the beginning of December ... it is season of reflection - a sort of Lent Light, if you will.
