It's almost St. Nick's Day! Get your Krampus out! It's time to terrorize the teeny ones! (Some holiday traditions just need to be acknowledged.)

Isn't there a film now? I seem to remember seeing it advertised.

Isn't there a film now? I seem to remember seeing it advertised. Yes...It seems so. A Christmas horror release. It just came out this week, probably in time for the St. Nick's Day. My neighborhood commercial district reputedly had a Krampuslauf today, but it has been very wet, so I'm not sure as to its success.

It's Alpine European. It comes from Bavaria and Austria...and probably parts of Switzerland and Slovenia. Evidently, mountain dwellers need to scare the crap out of their kids and the 'lump of coal' gambit just ain't enough. In American mythos, the Santa figure (Kris Kringle, Saint Nicolas) has elves in his workshop and some very special draft animals, but no 'assistant' like Krampus, or Zwarte Piet.
So...Did everybody get their goodies from Snick?

I read Kris Kringle as Kris Jenner. That was scary.

The Yule goat used to give the children Christmas presents before the traditon of Santa Claus (jultomten). Though he did not look that scary. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yule_GoatThen we have the Gävle yule goat, burned down every year.
