So how are things looking now? Trump winning so far, but Cruz can still catch up I think. There are two wiki pages where you can follow the 2016 primaries, one for the democrats and the other one for the republican party.

Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, and Florida vote tomorrow. Also, Northern Mariana Islands (Republican only).

I'm still hoping Trump wins the nomination because Cruz's policies are just as bad as Trump's and he is more likely to win against Clinton. Trump's rhetoric is designed to win maximum support. As president, he would still be right wing but would be more reasonable, whilst Cruz would just stick to his guns.

A bit of an ideological chameleon. But he still cares what people think. About him. Cruz is an ideological zealot. He is the man who led the shutdown of the federal government in a snit.

Between the devil and the deep blue sea then. What matters to me is who would be most easily defeated.

Between the devil and the deep blue sea then. What matters to me is who would be most easily defeated. I suspect "most easily defeated" would be if the GOP got to its convention without a clear winner, resulting in a brokered convention which denies Trump the nomination, leading to a snit by Trump, who splits and mounts an independent campaign, splitting the 'wackadoodle vote' and giving the election to whomever the Democrats select.

I thought I heard that Romney filed FEC papers to run for president. I think I heard it on NPR about a week ago, but I've not heard anything about it since. Has anyone else heard that?

If Trump wins the nomination is there any chance the GOP can refuse to give it to him? Do the parties have any sort of discretion that way? I presume that they would not do that but just wondered if technically they could

Personally guaranteeing to pay the rioters' fees but not actually doing so.

I presume that they would not do that but just wondered if technically they could If he wins by more than 50%, they can't refuse. All they can do is run somebody as a third party candidate in hopes of splitting up the vote. If he wins the most delegates, but has less than 50%, they can do something called brokering, I think, in which the rest of the candidates' delegates can change their votes and stack them so that a different candidate wins. I don't know exactly how it works, though. I believe there would be a lot of ammosexuals rioting, if the latter happens.

Tempting to just put them all in a large open space and leave them to it

Tempting to just put them all in a large open space and leave them to it I think the next national NRA convention should do away with their 'no guns on the convention floor' rule and make the whole thing be 'open carry'.

Seriously - they have a policy of no guns on the convention floor??

Now this man is openly advocating torture - I do not understand how any decent person could still consider voting for him. No, the people who committed the Belgian attacks are not decent people. Yes, i am frightened that there are going to be more and more attacks. But torturing Muslims is not going to do anything to help the situation whatsoever - more likely to make it worse.

ISIS is a product of greed, violence, hatred and war. Torture will make the situation much worse.

Well, now...that is interesting. It seems that any forkin' yahoo can waltz in to the national convention as a paid member and gun down the keynote speaker, if they disagree with them? I'll bet the Secret Service really looks forward to guarding presidential candidates where there are potentially 70,000 armed and rabid attendees.

Can you imagine the bloodbath if one single shot were fired? They'd all be at it within seconds.

Well, I cannot think of a more likely place for a bloodbath. Such might even be beneficial in the longer run.
I wonder if they offer seminars in how to discern a 'good guy with a gun' from a 'bad guy with a gun'?

Hehe well I didn't like to say it but yeah, it probably wouldn't be that bad for the gene pool. But can you imagine? Someone fires at, say, Trump. Three other people who are quick off the mark immediately fire at that person. Two dozen people who are LESS quick off the mark fire at any one of the four, not known who fired the first shot. And then ten thousand trigger happy morons start firing just because everyone else seems to be doing it and the bangs make them happy.

For the first time, an opinion poll puts Bernie Sanders (green) 5% ahead of Clinton (yellow).
