www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-34131911 If these stats are correct and I am interpreting them correctly then this is utterly disgusting, not least because the DM is doing its best to tell its imbecile readers that all refugees want to come to the UK as their ultimate goal and that we are taking many more than everyone else. How can they get away with such dishonesty?

I thought Germany was taking more than everyone else. And of course, we can't afford it. We're only the richest country in Europe.

You're taking a good deal more than we are. i tried to post this link on the DM site where people were going on about how all refugees want to come to the UK and Germany and Sweden weren't doing anything - how can people tell such blatant lies?? - but they would not let my comment through. Quelle surprise ... we can't have people knowing the truth can we ?

I doubt the DM site would allow a link to another news source.

Well I tried to summarise without posting a link too and that didn't get through either.

Maybe they prefer the more extreme comments.

I would like to post that Sweden has received most refugees per capita.

I thought Germany was taking more than everyone else. In the EU. Turkey has the highest number of Syrian refugees to-date. According to this wiki page, the 10 highest ranking countries with Syrian refugees goes like this: 1- Turkey 2,181,293 2- Lebanon 1,185,241 3- Jordan 629,245 (of an estimated 1,400,000, making it potentially 2nd) 4- Iraq 247,861 5- UAE 242,000 (estimated) 6- Germany 151,000 (estimated) 7- Egypt 133,862 8- Kuwait 120,000 (estimated) 9- Sweden more than 78,000 10- Netherlands 36,000

The UK's 'help' is totally and utterly shameful but still the DM crowd bleat about how all refugees are coming her and no-one else is helping out.

BTW to clarify by DM crowd I mean the people who comment on their forums and news-site, not their journalists .. tho I don't think anything good of the latter either.

So you weren't impressed by their campaigning for Stephen Lawrence or the Guantanamo prisoners?

Nope. Cos I do not think that they cared or care at all about that demographic.

For the record Alan I remember very well that you were not impressed by their campaigning for Stephen Lawrence either. I seem to recall that you posted on the old forum that the DM had accused people publicly without proof .. which perhaps they did. Some of those people have since been convicted.

Oh I was totally sceptical about the Mail's initial stance regarding the Stephen Lawrence case but when they printed the faces of the perpetrators on the front page and risked serious prison time, well there could be no doubt about the sincerity.
The same goes for the Guantanamo refugees. They're serious, and you're doing them a grave disservice

I seem to recall you saying at the time that they were being dishonest posting the attackers faces and saying 'if we're wrong sue us' because they knew that the accused would not be able to afford to fight them.
As to the Gitmo people - I applaud that they tried to campaign for their releases but they've been printing some pretty nasty stuff about that bloke who was released from there recently - the one whose freedom they had campaigned for. That being said the nastiness is coming from individual columnists not the DM in general.
