We went to see Skyfall last night and were both sorely disappointed. I was, I admit, quite tired, but I fell asleep half way through. I've never done that in the cinema before. I enjoy watching the James Bond films, but having seen about 30 minutes of Quantum of Solace I actually turned it off because I found it so dull. It all seemed to be trying too hard to be exciting and serious; almost like an entirely different franchise.

Me too, Genie. Have you seen Burn After Reading? I didn't know about this movie. Have to see it! *make notes

We saw SkyFall last night and I really enjoyed it. Not saying it's the greatest movie ever but it was a decent story, I liked the contrast between doing things the old fashioned way against the new high tech way of living. Plus both Daniel Craig as Bond and Javier Bardem as the villian are excellent - that dude was creepy as hell. I also thought it was beautifully shot, especially the final part in Scotland.
Dark Knight Rising was a real disappointment for us.

I watched Bend it Like Beckham and Idiocracy this evening. Loved them! I had seen Idiocracy before, but I had forgotten most of it.

I recently saw part of an interview with Roger Moore and he said that Skyfall was the best Bond film ever!

Last night I saw Dude, Where's My Car? for the second time. It was okay, but not as good as I remembered it being from the first time.

We're thinking of watching Dredd in the cinema on the weekend. frank would like to see it, he worked on the Judge Dredd film that came out in the 90s. I'm not too keen, it's even for people aged over 18, but I said I'd come with him and as soon as I find a movie I'd like to see, he wil watch it with me.

I saw DREDD. Despite the fact that it was filmed in South Africa (and had a lot of subtle South-Africanisms in it) I could not connect with it. Others more picky than me usually had. Its not a bad movie; its pretty decent, but I wouldn't watch it again easily.

We watched it last night. It was a bit graphic for me in some places, but other than that, I actually enjoyed watching it.

Friday night, as Mrs Shake went out with some friends, I sat home with the kids and after the annual airing of Frosty the Snowman on TV, we put Lady and the Tramp on the DVD. If I'd seen it before, I didn't really remember it. Cute, predictable, but still classic Disney. She's trying to help prep the kids during the next 78 days before we go back to Disney World!
Oh, and then last night, the wife and I watched P.S. I Love You.

I watched Terminator 2, which I have not seen in ages. Unfortunately, it was the special edition, which suffers by having a load of out of place or pace-breaking bits in it. Aliens suffers in exactly the same way!

I need to watch Alien and Aliens again. The problem is I usually only watch movies with my kids. We went trough the Terminators purely as an educational exercise, but Alien may still be a little scary.
Also waiting to be rewatched; Blade Runner, Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction and Predator. We do keep watching Ice Princess and Notting Hill with alarming frequency.

A colleague just lent me Shean of the DeaD and Hot Fuzz which I'm looking foward to seeing. I saw about the first half of Hot Fuzz which I thought was hilarious but was extremely tired and fell asleep through the rest!

I have them both, but have only seen them once. I remember not liking Hot Fuzz much, but I suspect it was the situation and people I was with at the time that did it. Must try again soon.

You can watch it when we watch it and we can pretend we're watching it together. Plus I'm sure you'll enjoy it a lot more if you include popcorn and maltesers.

Watched Skyfall and rather liked it. I also watched The Philadelphia Story, which was rather charming old movie.

The Philadelphia Story is one of my favorites. It takes place in the area we live in. Hepburn's character is based on Hope Montgomery Scott, a famous Main Line socialite of the era: www.reelclassics.com/Movies/Philstory/tracylord-article.htm. Her home (which still exists) is called Ardrossan, and looks like this:

I watched the Will Smith film, I, Robot. It is quite good, but I find the CGI-heavy parts, like when the car is being attacked by waves of robots to get very tiresome as I find the realism goes right out of the window... for a long time!

Thanks for the info (though I had to look up what a Main Line family is). It was a good movie, though not quite as zany as some of the other 'Screwball' comedies from the era I've seen (including Arsenic and Old Lace and His Girl Friday) Wow. That place looks like it should be called Hill House.

Try Bringing Up the Baby, also with Grant and Hepburn. That's about the height of zaniness ('Baby' is a leopard). I don't think Ardrossan is haunted.

Watched Moonrise Kingdom last night. A sweet, other-worldly film, directed by Wes Anderson. We really enjoyed it.

I have started to watch Citizen Kane when I go to bed. Each night I start it from wherever I got to the night before before losing conciousness. Have made about 15-20 minutes in two nights, so far! My laptop shuts itself down when the film ends.

So does mine. It's ideal. Speaking of bed: need to get to mine now.
I recently saw Lady and the Tramp. My parets gave me their left over videos and I hadn't seen it in quiiiiite a while, so... there were a few things I'd forgotten, but I liked it better than I did as a kid.

Watched Moonrise Kingdom last night. A sweet, other-worldly film, directed by Wes Anderson. We really enjoyed it. I'm gonna find a tree to chop down.I love the movie. I also love how deadly serious all the children characters in the movie act as opposed to the disconnection the adults seem to have with each other as well as their feelings. I suppose maybe that's the point of the movie. I also watched Buster Keaton's Seven Chances, a pretty funny, entertaining movie (casual racism aside). The last 20 minute chase sequence had my mouth hanging open.

I love Buster Keaton! I haven't seen that particular one, but he is pretty amazing considering he did all of his stunts himself except for the pole vaulting in College. I keep hoping his boxed set will go on sale cheap enough for me. Sigh...
