I haven't seen any for a long time, but I have always been very impressed with Harold Lloyd's films. The fact they did their own stunts makes their work so much better than today's films where CGI is used or they are so unbelievably safe that there is no real danger in doing a stunt, no matter how impressive it might be to do it for real.

The Dude Abides.
I'm also a big Coen Brothers fan, but I have yet to see so many of their films. I've also seen Coen pix I did not like, like 'Barton Fink'.
I also like the ensemble pix with Christopher Guest and his completely indicted co-conspirators. 'Waiting for Guffman' is one of my favorites....anybody who has done anything close to 'community theater' will end up rolling on the floor in laughter. Others will look on in curiosity, bemused.
That said, I haven't been out to a film in quite a while. I think I went alone and saw some super-hero picture....Captain America, or something. It was obviously content-light eye candy that didn't impress with a script, or anything.
I obviously need to view the entire 'Madagascar' series. I do consider myself a conny-sewer of cartoons. (I lean to favor the Warner Bros crowds.) I'll have to check NetFlix on that.

Don't laugh but yesterday I watched 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' on YouTube. I only recently found out that YouTube included some full length films and I watched it for old times sake. It is quite dated but the wicked queen is still pretty scary. (I said don't laugh :

Yesterday and today I have watched Resident Evil 1 and 2. I do like Mila Jovovitch, although I would find Alice rather intimidating!

Just finally watched Taken. Plot was rather tenuous, but it was okay. Not as exciting as the hype would have you believe but I don't think anything much is.

My husband and I knew nothing about community theater, but both of us found Waiting for Guffman one the of funniest movies we've ever seen.

Haven't been online in a while as I was waiting for my new internet to get installed, then searched for a link to this place. Finally, I'm here. I saw:
Jack Reacher Not the best movie ever made, but I think a lot of people are overly critical about this movie for several reasons, some of them fair, some of them mostly based on the fact that it stars Tom Cruise and thus somehow bereft of merit. Though I did not buy Tom Cruise 100% in the role (more like 80%) he did play his role good and I felt the movie was fairly well made. I enjoyed the fact that the movie took its time to build tension to create a level of paranoia thats not found in most big Hollywood productions lately. Also, it has my favourite crazy German director Werner Herzog as the villain.
The Master This movie contains some of the finest performances I've ever seen and was incredibly directed, but I felt that it was in service of a very thin story that is fascinating to watch but somehow does not amount to much when you think about it. Regarding this movie I stand in a weird no-mans land between disappointment and awe.

Lincoln Outstanding film! Took my oldest to see it and it was very well done. I think this should be required viewing for members of Congress. It had its serious moments as well as its funny moments (the story about Ethan Allan was particularly funny).

I have never found him convincing in anything. People seem to treat him like he is an amazing actor and charismatic guy but he was on Graham Norton's show this week and I personally found him uninteresting!

A gorey hoot.

Yeah I wanted to see Abe Lincoln Vamp Hunter but unfortunately we missed it. Didn't have a long running time at the cinemas. Maven of the Eventide thought it was cool and I like her reviews.
I'm looking forward to seeing Les Mis and Django. Though i've heard that Les Mis is not as good as it should be and Russel Crowe is terrible in it.

We watched "Prometheus" on DVD on Saturday and were incredibly disappointed. The plot nd the dialogues were just really, really awful and there was no logic whatsoever in there and at some point, it seemed like we were watching a horror movie. Don't know why everybody liked it so much.

I decided to watch a trailer on IMDb to see what it was like but stopped part way through because it just seemed to be an exercise in horror. Homo Sapiens used to get his kicks from inventing new methods of turture and now it's new types of horror. Same mindset.

I don't know why everyone was making such a big deal out of it, it was the movie you had to see. This year has only begun and that movie might already be the disappointment of the year.

If that was the movie everyone had to see, then everyone is sick.

But I thought Prometheus was supposed to be a horror movie. Not as far as I know. Wasn't advertised as one here.

Was Prometheus touted as the film to see last year? I seem to recall it was pretty much a flop and certainly looked it from the trailers.

But I thought Prometheus was supposed to be a horror movie. I got the impression that it was supposed to be a "prequel" to the Aliens series of films. So, yes...horror.

Maybe not the only film to see last year - there was James Bond, the Hobbit... but it was definitely advertised as one of the "must see"-films. I hated the fact that the plot had no logic at all!

I watched The Number 23 today. It is interesting to keep spotting the 23s in various places throughout the film. It reminded me of a film I saw a long time back called Drowning By Numbers in which the numbers from 1 to 100 are either written on screen or spoken in order throughout the film.

I thought it was good. The parts they did well were done extremely well. Really brilliantly to be honest. For instance the opening sequence and Fantine's downfall into prostitution were amazing. But some parts felt like they ran out of time to do them properly. It was also very long. And Russel Crowe's vocals were terrible. He really spoiled the film overall. Anne Hathaway was impressive though and the guy who played Marius. Also Helen Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen were very good as the Thernadiers. Overall a good experience and worth seeing but be prepared for a long movie and try to shut your ears when Russel Crowe has his solos.

I had planned on going to see the Hobbit on Thursday with a group of friends but I have a cold and I may not be well enough.
