No you will *looks earnest*. There was will be a petition and you all sign it If we did (or will) that is probably because you are bribing us in one way or other. Through emotional blackmail for example.

I'm still waiting to see that petition. You will have to accept Big Sister's word! I wonder if the people who placed this there realise the irony of it...

"Whatever floats your boat" or doesn't in this case. I have consulted all the relevant sacred texts and can find no reference to an ungulous person being petitioned for another thousand post text ... there's some interesting stuff about vain repetition though ...

I assume it's a Paternoster elevator. If you get in and there's bits still not in the compartment then hilarious deaths and injuries may ensue! I love those sorts of signs... need to go through my phone photos. I have a load more of stick-men being killed and mutilated in various ways!

It doesn't have to be a paternoster elevator (or 'lift' in the UK). All modern lifts have a set of doors on the compartment as well as a set of doors closing off the doorways on each of the floors the lift visits: with these sorts of lift you should be safe enough - the compartment doors shut before the lift begins to move so nothing inside the lift can touch the walls of the lift shaft. Some older lifts don't have the separate compartment doors, or have a rudimentary manual door that you shut yourself. People have been known to override the switches on these manual doors so that they can save time by not bothering to shut and open them. This is the situation depicted on the warning sign - the unfortunate victim has backed the wheelie bin into the lift but not noticed that the edge of the bin is not completely inside the compartment - when the lift begins to descend the wheelie bin catches on the bottom edge of the lift shaft doorway and the bin then proceeds to injure/kill/decapitate the person.

Lots of elevators are only rated for carrying goods - not people. You often see these in factories. You put your trolley or pallet or whatever of stuff in the lift; send it to the destination floor, then if you need to be there too, you either use the stairs or the separate people lift - if there is one. Of course, lazy people are always tempted to ride in the lift, so the lifts are usually plastered with these dire warning signs to discourage people from doing so.

The warning says, "Dangerous to transport goods in elevators with no interior door or photocell".
I suppose that I would never have thought of that kind of thing as I'd have always gone in bin-first.
