There is a Swedish TV-show called "Allt för Sverige" .

They get information about Sweden and Swedish traditions and life style. And of course about their Swedish ancestors, who mostly were very poor. The Americans are very positive and enthusiastic. Of course, they always arrive in the summer. They learn about "fika" too:
I thought that was kind of international, coffee/tea with buns or cookies.
One Karen from Utah left the Mormon church after the show. "I have always been surrounded by Mormones. When I did not agree about something, I though there was something wrong with me. And then I arrived to Sweden and everybody thought like me. I was not crazy, I was just Swedish."
She now spells her name the Swedish way, Karin. She no longer has her husbands surname b/c his family don't want to see her anymore. And the family will now more from Utah to Florida.
Another participant decided to marry a Norwegian whom she met during the recording and move to Norway. And yet another one said jokingly that it is nice to know where he can move in case Donald Trumps wins.
But I assume most Americans have ancestors from many different countries. I don't know if there are such programmes from other countries too.
The reality show reconnects the winner with Swedish relatives - provided they overcome the culture shock.
Allt för Sverige (Everything for Sweden) is a Swedish reality TV show that plucks ten Americans from their homes and drops them on the soil of their ancestors. The third season, which has already been filmed, is set to premier on Sunday, October 20th, when a whole new gang of curious Americans will get their first taste Sweden – pickled herring included – as they compete for a chance to meet their Swedish relatives.

"I love fika," Anderson exclaimed. "Here in the US, I say, 'You know what, friends? We’re fika-ing.' I really fell in love with Swedish snack food, like Gifflar. I could eat those things like it was my job," he adds, referring to a type of miniature buns popular in Sweden.
