I have a fondness for McDonalds style fries I must admit. But potatoes in most forms are good..

Yeah, mashed is actually my favourite.

I see that error has been recognized. Mashed is not there.
Nor are scalloped.
Nor are hashbrowns.
Nor are knishes.
Potatoes are awesome.
I love me hashbrowns and I love me mashed taters with gravy.
Potatoes have no gluten and, if you're not picky, need no butter, nor gravy even.

I like them boiled.

I like them most as chips (done properly; my way!) Decent brown, not pasty yellow! You also missed out steamed, which is how I normally cook them. It is not the same as boiled.

Don't think I ever tried steaming a potato.
I like them mashed. I also like fat chips. Though I also like fries. Boiled are good, especially with a bit of olive oil. Baked potatoes are good if they are topped with butter, cheese, coleslaw and bacon.

Heh, yes, baked potatoes would be healthy, otherwise!

Yes. I have tried a healthier alternative with some light sour cream (btw sour cream is absolutely delicious with baked potato), a slice of ham chopped up and some corn and spring onion. That is also pretty tasty actually. But the other way is so nice and indulgent.
How long do you steam your potatoes for? Do they go fluffy?

This should be a multiple choice poll - then I would be able to tick all of the options.

I second ceptimus' suggestion.
I'd probably tick off all options, anyway, though.
I will eat cold boiled potatoes. And like them.
Baked potatoes with sour cream, bacon bits, chives and fresh ground black pepper is a classic. A good fresh salsa goes well with sour cream, too.
Comfort food? Pan fried potatoes with sausage gravy is so comfortable as to be sinful.

I only like cold boiled potatoes as potato salad really

I usually do them for 30-40 minutes. Steaming is good because you can cook things such as chicken at the same time in the steamer. I am usually too hungry to wait much longer!

I'm not fond of most kinds of poato salad. there is a Swabian one with lots of oil, very soggy and I hate it.

Does anybody else here eat uncooked potatoes? As in...raw? I like to crunch on the occasional piece as I'm cooking...just as a 'snack'. It's not like I'd make a meal of it, like I would with cooked potatoes, but still, they're okay.

Yes, they're actually quite nice in small quantities.

Aren't they poisonous raw? Or is that just a myth?

The leaves are poisonous and any green part of the potato but I'm still here so the white uncooked part can't be very poisonous.

No, it is fine to eat, just not the easiest to digest, I believe. But if you chew in raw potato for a while, the starch will turn sweet in your mouth. My mother's generation used that as a candy substitute when they were kids.

Ever since going on diet I've cut potatoes out completely as, no matter how they're done, they're not very good for your diet because of all the starch. I still like it, but even when not strictly on the diet I don't take fries with anything. Still, I liked them mashed.
