Anyone else watching this? I was recommended it as a substitute till Game of Thrones came back, but it's rather good.

My neighbour (who got me into it) thinks I'm weird because I don't fancy Ragnar. I don't even like him as a character. I do have a crush one of the characters, which is rather sad because I'm technically old enough to be his mother IRL, but I'll leave you guessing who it is Also, I got a bit UKIP about the whole invading Britain thing - I keep wanting the Vikings to get thrashed! I'm sort of missing the point, I know...

Having grown up in Norway where the historic narrative of them is rather different than it is pretty much everywhere else (my children's fiction was the historic novels of Torill Thorstad Hauger that tell of the everyday lives of all classes of people in that culture), the only vikings on film I have found convincing was in the Icelandic film Hvíti víkingurinn, so I have not dared to watch this show yet. But I do have it waiting, along with about 20 other shows that demand my attention.

I have watched the entire series to date and love it. It continues and I just watched the latest release. Harald Fairhair has been chosen 'king of all Norway' over Bjorn Ragnarson, Lagertha had died at the hand of Hvitserk, and the storm rises in the east, at Novgorod, where Ivar has come to rest in exile with the Rus and schemes to return to Kattegatt in power.
Now, there is rumored to be a 'spin-off', entitled 'Vikings: Valhalla' concentrating on Harald Hardrada and William the Bastard.
What will still need telling is the tale of the rise to North Sea Empire of Cnute, complete with Queen Emma stalking the stage.
Juju: It's Rollo, isn't it?

Ah....Now, that I understand. Athelstan was my fave. I did like Ecgberht, too.
