Heavy, dark cloud cover, hanging low, emitting a persistent wet rain. Puddles everywhere.

It's toying with either overcast with rain showers, or clear with a few clouds. As it transitions to clearing, the temperatures drop to below freezing, manifesting in 'mixed snow & rain'.
So, all the Chicken Littles are squawking about the sky falling.
Meanwhile, the roads are all a mite less safe due to icy conditions...

Snow. Light, but with modest accumulation.

There is definite accumulation here.

We're getting accumulation, but we have yet to reach the point where we know whether or not it will be gone by sundown.
Ever since it started snowing late morning, the temperature has been rock steady at one degree Fahrenheit above freezing (33 F). Forecasts have the temperature slowly rising through the rest of the day...even into darkness.
A check out the front door shows that the street is not accumulating snow at all. It is totally clear. The same with walkways.

Not only did the remnants of the snowfall make it to sundown, they were there, if in a very attenuated form, this morning.
It is still near freezing and the day's warming (in full sun) is yet to come.

Persistent, very wet, and cold, rains which have generated running streams in the street gutters and a fair amount of standing water elsewhere.
Entirely overcast.
Soggy.

Very light dusting of snow. The level you get when you de ics your car with a scraper really. But hey, the lights look brighter with that little bit of whiteness.

Frost, and a little light snow, enough for children to throw snowballs and for the bird bath to freeze over. Manchester Airport was closed for several hours because of the light sprinkling (and presumably the ice).

Overcast and still, without rain. It is still damp from the last storm front, but drying. Cold (4 C). Awaiting the next storm front.

Finland has lots and lots of snow, which is not a surprise at all - although sometimes there isn't any until January. I thought it snowed in Lapland on Christmas Day.

It dawned this morning clear and sunny. It is cold, of course, but not freezing.
Evidently, that will change this evening. We're to be plunged into the cold vortex which is vexing much of the rest of the country already. I don't know if Ted Cruz has fled to Cancun, yet, but I'd bet money on it being soon. Anyway, we're on the periphery of that and will get some wash-over from it, plunging our temperatures down to -9 C overnight and maintaining that (with some light snowfall, or sleet) throughout the day, and then, as temperatures rise on Friday, dumping freezing rain on the region. This is how we lose power...

-13. 9°C (7°F). With a wind chill of -27°C (-18°F) windchill at 40 to 50 miles an hour here. Light blizzard earlier this morning but not enough to accumulate anything large.

A subfreezing overcast. It is dry but very windy, so everybody is testing out the windchill factor scene. All the windchimes are getting a workout, too.

It's still above freezing here, and forecast to fall to around -5C this afternoon and stay there for a few days.
But it seems like some of y'all have a bomb cyclone on the way, with much more interesting temperatures?

We're currently at -8 C with gusting winds. Overnight, we got some precipitation. It looks like a very light snow, but I'm guessing it is more like a thin layer of accumulated sleet.
According to reports, the air temperatures at 12,000 feet (the top of Mt. Hood) are above freezing, while the valley floors are locked in deep freezes, so as the warmer air off the Pacific rolls in, it tends to slide up over the accumulated cold air and release it's load of moisture. This means the 'rain' falls through a considerably colder regime of air and freezes on the way down, hitting the ground a solidly frozen ice pellets. This is better than when the lower levels warm to closer to the freezing point, when the rain falling thru the cold air does not freeze until it hits the sub-freezing ground. Freezing rain is the worst; it collects on limbs and weights them so much that at times the limbs are torn down. It collects as a sheet of nearly invisible ice on all walkways and road surfaces, rendering surface transportation nearly impossible for the duration.
At this point, before dawn on Friday, I suspect I am trapped in my home until midday Saturday, when temperatures rise enough to melt away the accumulated ice.
I am at the more westerly periphery of the said 'cyclone bomb' (aka 'Arctic Blast'). We're all waiting to see if and when the Texas power grid will fail.

Moving on.
While yesterday was snowing a little. Today is cloudy, cold, windy. Woke up to -15.6°C (4°F). I wonder how the animals outside get by on this.
