I'm making sun tea on the balcony in preparation for the coming storm. Iced tea is distinctly in the rotation.

What is Sun tea? It sounds amazing. Very happy making.

Any sun spots to add a little spice?

What is Sun tea? It sounds amazing. Very happy making. Steeping the tea in sunlight. You put your teabags in a glass container and fill with water, and then set the lot in a very sunny spot. I use about six bags per quart of water, giving me a nice strong, dark tea. I then pour the tea over ice and sweeten it (ever so slightly) and, voila, I have iced tea. I refrigerate the remainder, but it is not necessary. ***tinkle, tinkle, tinkle***

Does that really taste different/better than ordinary tea? I guess I should give it a go.

It depends upon whether one wishes to cool down and use one's beverage to help obtain that objective. It tastes like tea, but it is cold.

I've got my surplus cooling in the fridge. I just came in from watering all my potted plants. The sun just broke from behind the stand of Doug firs to the east and direct sunlight has driven me from the back garden. I closed down the house and did a quick monitor of the thermostat. We're expecting a 100+ degree day today (and tomorrow). Forkin' hot. I'm battening down.

It was one thing one moment and another thing the next. Weird weather. Warm enough though.

Heavy rain in short showers both yesterday afternoon and during today. Warm though ... and quite humid.

To be repeated daily until Friday, when the temperatures are slated to ease off to the mid-80s.
We have not broken the 100 degree mark here in the city. That has happened up the valley, but we just posted a 98 degree day.

Some rain, some shine, nice temps. Expected to go muggy by this weekend though. Horrible thing of the moment: clouds of flies.

No clouds of flies in the forecast here. Just more heat.
I'm enjoying the morning cool and watering off the back balcony.

It's been fairly cool here for days and quite a bit of rain. Hot in the rest of the country apparently.

I can't open a door or window without having droves of flying critters swarming in. Thankfully we're low on wasps and mosquitoes and other stinging horrors this year.

Don't seem to get many wasps around here. Lots of bees on the flowers, but they only occasionally come in. Flies do of course, but again not too many. Mosquitoes go absolutely mad at the first chance, so I use a biological control on any standing water I have.

I'm very glad screens are so common in Canadian houses.

We had a lot of wasps one year and the following spring I found that they had made a nest in my compost heap.

Kye, we have screens on most windows, but not on the doors. It makes airing the house a pain.

Here, back thirty years ago, they strongly encouraged everybody to caulk, weatherstrip, and add storm windows to reduce infiltration and heat loss. As a result, opening a window for circulation is a major PITA. To accommodate A/C exhaust, I've removed storm windows upstairs. On the main floor, I have screens at both front and back doors and lace curtains at the French doors to the balcony. This allows for adequate cross ventilation...which is what is happening presently, as it is early morning cool outdoors.

I can imagine! I have screens on all windows and the patio door at the back of my apartment. Only the door going out to the front balcony doesn't have a screen.

With how our kitchen is outfitted, we can't have a good screen on our kitchen door, though we have a fly curtain. For all the good that does... *rolls eyes*

It was sunny when I left the house to go shopping so I left wearing a T-shirt and shorts. And now it's pouring down with rain and I'm sheltering with a cup of coffee in a restaurant

It rained so hard last night here that my dog was too excited to pee. I had to take him out extra early this morning to make sure he wasn't bursting. I got a rain-free window though because we're supposed to have another downpour later.
