A blissful day of a light rain.

Hot here - 32 is the forecast - and hotter over the weekend. My head is melting.

29 C today, it is too hot. Tried in vain to whip cream.

Warmer daily high. No biggy, but enough to drive me from the midday sun.

Enough heat to make me once again have to call in sick.

It's miserable when it's too hot, you can't work in 34°C heat.

I usually do quite well with dry heat despite hating it, but Monday the pregnancy and the heat suddenly collided making me faint, so had to take the day off. Am surviving on cold wet washtowels in my neck and on my legs and feet in water.

I used to have a reaction to the sun when I went on holiday, which would make my skin itch. So I carried a hand-held plant sprayer around with me, with plain cold water in the bottle. I would spray my face and my clothes frequently to cool me down. When we were on holiday in Australia, we used to wander round the nearby (air-conditioned) supermarket.

I still have to work till about 2 PM and after that is sleepy time for me so I'll have enough energy to deal with Girl when she gets home. She's been a handful lately, mostly due to too much input and too little sleep at daycare.

I had an awful day on Monday but coped better yesterday despite it actually being hotter. Still deciding how well today is going ...
What are the floors in your house like Mari? I have been taking breaks lying on the ground floor, because (under the wood panelling) it's a concrete base, and feels pleasantly cool. My sister has a tiled floor and says that is lovely to lie on!

Wood. Well, laminate. If I lie down on the floor though, I'm pretty sure I won't be able to get back up... I'm rather big at the moment.

Blissfully idyllic.
Yesterday, it was overcast until noon, after which we had huge puffy white clouds in an azure sky.
Today, it was cool enough, but sunny all day.
Then, I looked at the forecast. HOLY SQUAT! It seems I'm in for a heat wave. Weekend temperatures beyond 100 both days and another four days after with temps in the 90s.
I guess I should get my shit together and make a couple more apple pies tonight. So that I can have them baked before the heat wave hits.

And eat them chilled during the heatwave. Sounds like a great plan. Oh, or make Apple compote! Chilled and slightly sour is the best on hot days.

I still have two pies (at least) of unpared apples in the box. No grinder, so applesauce is out.
I may make more pies today. It's only supposed to get to 88 degrees today.

You can make applesauce by cutting the apples in small pieces and then boil them in a bit of water. The pieces will soften up enough to make it into a compote. Of course this won't work if you want a smooth sauce.

I wish I could eat apple pies. Is it the crust, or just all the carbohydrates generally? Swimmer is on a gluten-free kick, so I fix her a baked apple in a pyrex cup.

It's the general carbs of it. I try to keep my carbs below 30 grams a day. One day last week I had a seafood crepe ( which I didn't even finish) and it spiked my blood sugar. :-(

It only made it to 98 degrees today, instead of the 101 forecast. Tomorrow is to be warmer. It might actually reach 101.
The overnight low is expected to be 70, which is two degrees above what I keep my household temperature set at.

Easing off, we peaked at 91 today. Tomorrow and through Thursday we are forecast highs in the mid eighties, with mostly sunny conditions with scattered clouds.
Friday is forecast as rain, and another five degrees of cooling...down to a 80 degree high.
In other words, Friday will be still be hot, but it will be really humid. Precipatory humidity.

Grey and intermittently damp. Likely to be intermittently sunny later.
I have to say this is better than unremittingly 28-33 degrees.
