I don't think he'll give up, he's not a quitter. I'm hoping he will be impeached but it's not as likely as we might believe. And 80 odd percent of Republicans still worship him. Or think he's great. I would agree with this, though impeachment doesn't have as much support as you might think. Also, remember that impeachment doesn't necessarily equal removal from office. That said, I think no matter what the outcome, an impeachment would be a huge blow to his ego!

His ego needs a huge blow, as it's so large itself! Anyone who reads his Twitter feed can see how he feels the need to boast about achievements, even if he has had nothing to do with them. The most remarkable one is that he boasts about his approval rating like it's high, even though it's the lowest of any president at this point in office. His ego won't allow him to see that he shouldn't be drawing attention to it!

The most recent figures I saw showed his overall approval rate at 24% and his overall disapproval rate at 60%. Does that mean that 24% of the total population = 80% of Republicans?

I can't find the poll that reported Republican approval rate but I remember it was in the 80s.

That's very disturbing to see. I can understand some people having blind support for "their" candidate, but Trump seems totally unhinged and morally bankrupt!

That's how populist candidates get elected. Nigel Farage was thought to be a fruitcake and a looney but he still took a large proportion of the votes in the 2015 General Election (admittedly nowhere near as high as Trump but had it been a two horse race... )
