I am seeing a lot on facebook about the destruction caused by the hurricane(s) in Puerto Rico and the fact that much of the island is still without power and in desperate need of help. I am trying to not deliberately use this thread to knock Trump but he does not seem to be doing much - anything? - about it. PR is part of the US, is it not? Even if it weren't I would have thought that the US, as a rich country, has an obligation to help (I would hope that our country will too..)

Puerto Ricans are Us citizens. Seems a large percentage of Americans don't even know that!
Trump has actually been refusing to bypass some of the regulations about transporting goods there to allow aid to get there more easily. He is scum!

It's more difficult to get aid there than to the mainland states that are in need. I don't know how much of what I've heard about the gov. neglecting them is true, and how much of it is just because it's on an island that still has a hurricane in between it and us? But, anyway, Trump should be strung up by his balls, regardless.

Don't know how true it is, but I've seen stuff today saying they are trying to charge people full fare to evacuate them...

70% of the island is still without power. People are dying but it's impossible to know whether they would have died anyway or whether they died as a result of hurricane Martha.

Well it can't be hard to know if more people are dying that normal?

Only if you could count them but Puerto Rico is not in a position to count anything atm.

One plus side of this they're saying is that they may well have the opportunity to rebuild some of their infrastructure in a smarter way. I know Tesla was going down there to help out.

If Tesla does a good job, Trump will surely take credit for the "amazing response"!
