So...The last time I got shorn was in Whitehaven, where I found an inexpensive purveyor. Of course, I got an inexpensive (and, shortly after, ragged) cut.
It's four months later and my hair is back to where I like it, but my beard distinctly qualifies for the 'cardboard sign' standards. It looks scraggly. I'm trying to hold off until after Halloween, against the improbable possibility that I might pull off a 'mad doctor' cosplay, should the need arise.
I've decided that my beard is not adequate for the 'long' setting and I need to dial back to the 'medium', and more 'trim' set. I'm toying with having the professional I had do the total gig last year do it again, but I'm not excited about shortening my head hair (with what little there is on top), which I'm sure I'd be tempted to do once in the barber chair for a beard trim. I don't usually trust others to work on my beard, but she did a credible job last time and she'd have plenty to work with at its present length. I'm also not excited about the cost.

Do I HAVE to start wearing a lot of red, too?
Oh, wait...I already do.
Warning: My exemplar in this regard is Billy Bob Thornton.

I could have done it if you'd asked *looks faintly hurt*

I could have done it if you'd asked *looks faintly hurt* It never even occurred to me. The shearing I had was pretty much an impulse thing, having run across the shop just a short stroll from the guest house.

Honestly, you would not want me anywhere near your follicles . I cannot cut in a straight line anymore than I can walk in one

As I remember, it was quite windy. As it had been on Mann and in central Wales. I had been chewing on my beard and my hair had taken on a Doc Brown look.
I'm now back to those lengths, but I have not recently experienced having my beard blown in my face or ending up in my sandwich.
My beard does 'waggle' when I shake my head. I'd say that it is of 'Pythagorean expanse'. The hair is just a mess; I probably should cut it, too.

I thought it was about sheepies but this post is about goats!
I get my hair cut and coloured once a quarter, that works well for me and not so expensive as most people who seem to go twice as often.

Once a quarter? I go once a month and I don't have it coloured. It costs me £96 ($163 AUS)

Now that I'm not colouring my hair, it's a lot cheaper. I go once every 3 months or so and it costs me about 70$ (£42).

Wow I was wondering if you'd gone mad paying that much for a haircut.
I pay a bit more than that for my cut and colour, $180 so $720 a year.

I go to the cheapest place in Marple. Once, I went to an expensive barbers shop in Wilmslow - at twice the price - and hated the cut so much, I went to my regular barber to put it right.

Astonishingly bad, especially since it cost almost twice as much as normal.

Symmetrical, left and right, not tapered properly at the sides so that it had ridges. And other things I can't remember.

At this point, I don't know if I'll even make it to Halloween. I'm getting tired of the mangy beard look. It needs to be tamed.
(Note here...Moose did the honors of nailing the horrific costume I should acquire for time when spirits cross between worlds. It should be red. With white highlights and black piping. A notable laugh, maniacal, perhaps, seems to be in order. Nigel Claus, the younger, feckless, troublesome ne'er-do-well brother who always dins his relatives for money; the dependent Claus.)
Wow, bill. You must keep it pretty darn short. My father had a buzz clipper with which he gave his sons haircuts. When he was finished, he did his own. Zip, zip, zip...maybe ten passes, followed by a shave and he was good for the week. It was like military induction every time I got a haircut. You gotta like the 'crew cut'.
I'm going to push to prune back the beard to half its current length past the chin (from 5"). I like the length my hair is at this point, which is just reaching my teeshirt collar. I'll have that 'shortened' to match the beard. I have a 'hair care specialist' at the local barber who did a decent job on my beard back in February and I'm going to try to book with her again. It should cost me $35 US for the works.

Symmetrical, left and right, not tapered properly at the sides so that it had ridges. And other things I can't remember. Tangent has ridges? Is that so he can pick up lots of dip? My cut in Whitehaven was nice when I walked out of the shop, but it didn't last well through the first shower and was kind of 'choppy' for a couple of weeks thereafter. That's the problem with a 7 quid haircut and beard trim. Meh...Since it was windy much of the time, I don't think anybody noticed or cared.
