I had bought some strawberry plants and was going to plant them in my back yard. But there was an ant's nest in the earth. My daughter was home and I boiled water and she poured it on the earth. The ants tried to save the eggs but we killed them mercilessly. We want them all to die, especially the ant queen. We also spread a mix of baking soda and vanilla sugar over the earth.
But there are still ants there, probably building a new colony. Is there any environment friendly way to get rid of them?

Well, now is the time.
All of Moosie's long range vision and generosity comes to fruition, in the hour of your need.
Just use the anteater she sent you.
(I never got mine but I assume that was a fluke.)

Yes, use biological detergent. Soap kills ants.

Yes, use biological detergent. Soap kills ants. Soap with hot water or with cold water?

I use food grade diatomaceous earth.
I presently am dealing with tiny ants which infest the pet food bowl. I just put down a saucer with diatomaceous earth under the bowl holding the kibble.

From what I'm reading....online, of course....borax is the go-to substance for ants (although diatomaceous earth is mentioned).

I know people often do boil them but I don't like that idea . We used to put bowls of golden syrup out and they'd gravitate towards a syrupy death.

Yes, use biological detergent. Soap kills ants. Soap with hot water or with cold water? Either. You could always raise your strawberries in raised beds or pots by the way. Easier to keep the snails out that way too.

Well, the ants died. But so did the strawberry plants. We went away and the sun was hot every day and they got no water.

My dad had an infestation of greenfly on his garden plants. He got rid of them with a blowlamp. The greenfly didn't survive but neither did the plant
