Could someone who knows Doctor Who please watch the video and tell me which episode the scenes at minute 1:15 (up to 1:17, showing Rose and the Doctor lying in the grass) and at 2:31 (up to 2:34) are from? Am analyzing the video for a course on Multimodality and with some scenes, it would help if I could say which episode they are from, preferrably without watching all the episodes with the tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler.

I'm pretty sure the second one (2:31) is "New Earth" - the one with the cat-nuns in the hospital. And that was my first thought for the 1:15 clip as well.

That or the one about the traffic jam. At the end there was a scene with nature as well I believe.

Thanks. I'll check the episodes. The song might have been good before I listened to it dozens of times to analyse the video.

By the way, if anyone has time, could you please watch the whole video and tell me if you think it is telling some kind of story? And what are your impressions of the story it tells, if you have to sum it up in a few words or sentences?

OK ... I have watched the video from beginning to end ... and ... not sure.
My overriding impression is that the clips are very well synchronised to the music, with well-timed transitions. But I'm not sure what story I'm getting.
Of course that may be coloured by knowing the song, which is about the evolution of life on Earth - into "endless forms most beautiful" which is a quote from Darwin. And while not many of the clips are on Earth (!) you could argue they are displaying endless forms from different planets. Still not exactly a story though.

So next I watched it without the sound And I noted the following ... make of this what you will ... arrival - new clothes - threats - mysteries - strange places - difficult places wonderful places - dangerous places - battling - loss of companions fish ... more travelling - more threats - more running - more battling (stately) home regeneration escape I can't separate those thoughts from Doctor Who - it's all about travelling around lots of amazing places with a significant amount of danger and some people dying. Which doesn't immediately tie in with the theme of the song, but if you think about it could do quite well - lots of amazing places (on Earth) and lots of different species struggling and battling and being reborn.

Thanks, Joe. It helps to hear/read what other people make of it.
