Trying to keep myself mentally together till morning. Not that anything happens in the morning but I spent some of last night in a churchyard and it probably would not want me back. Also, it cost a lot in taxi fares.

I'm here, but it's only 8:50 in Montreal. I just came back from a meetup group for women who are 50 and over. Fun times...

I was fairly asleep at that time.
Didn't help much, I still have a headache.

Tonight summer time ends and we have an extra hour in bed.
I spent last night sniffling with a cold when I wasn't asleep and trying not to cough or sneeze. I don't want to pass it on.

I was confused a bit, Kye, and was wondering why on earth one would want to meet before 08.50 in the morning

Do you use 'military time'?

Is that a question to me, WG? We use it in writing, but generally not in speech.

Use is mixed in the UK, but we don't associate it with "military" - just call it the 24 hour clock.

It's used habitually here in the French-speaking population.

Use here is scattered, but it is almost uniformly the military types who use the 24-hour clock.

Railway and bus timetables always use the 24-hour clock.

I think that it is entirely appropriate in many circumstances, particularly regular transport schedules. But, the general public still thinks in twelve hour increments.
