I decided this year to bake cookies for my staff and liturgy team instead of buying them something. I like to bake and my cookies taste good, but they don't look like much. The cookies took a long time, and I put a lot of love into it, but I have this sneaking feeling that my team will react the way a parent does when their kid hands them a picture they made in school. "Oh sweetie, that's so nice! What a good job! Let's put it on the fridge shall we?"

I do our groceries on Saturday. As always. No need to buy special Christmas things. We're eating out on Christmas eve and Christmas day... As always. Family obligations and all that.

Family obligations for me means that everyone comes here to be fed and watered.

Family obligations for me means that everyone comes here to be fed and watered. That sounds like an invitation.

I have begun stocking up on a few things so we don't need to go to the shops on Christmas Eve, and for Christmas and Boxing Day the shops are closed anyway. Frank is taking care of the Christmas dinner and getting everything on Monday and I got desert which is in the freezer. My youngest sister will be here to celebrate with us. She would usually be with my parents, but has to work till 8 pm on Christmas Eve.
