Gave a mass on violence against women today - the day after being filmed slapping a woman's hand because she grabbed his arm.
I laughed.

Yeah, that was pretty ironic!
But I don't think he slapped her hand away because she was a woman. He probably would have done the same for a man. (I hope)

Yes he probably would. She should not actually have grabbed at him like that but it was very bad PR - he had a nasty look on his face as he walked away.

When John Prescott was Deputy Prime Minister, a protester egged him in the face. He responded very quickly with a sharp jab and a punch in the face. It would have looked very bad if the Pope had done that

She was very rude grabbing the Pope's hand like that. A slap was the least she deserved.
The Pope only has one lung: twisting his arm around like that could have caused him serious pain.
