From Healthline. Well, of course they did, they hated them . Who on this forum would eat lentils unless they had to to stop themselves starving to death?

I love lentils! But they have to be in a spicy Indian dal.

Lentils are pretty tasty when baked in a fairly dry dish - nutty flavour. And add a lot of body and thickness to a sauce.

In many cases it's still peddling the "eat less/exercise more" mantra and "calories in/calories out" message vigorously promoted by the food industry and big pharma.

vigorously promoted by the food industry and big pharma. Sections only of those industries. I mean fast food and snack companies are still part of the food industry, and big pharma would (probably does) promote weight-loss pills if it could.

The last time I had lentils, I had a pretty nasty case of gas.
All in all, I kinda think that they taste like I imagine dirt clods might taste....y'know, kinda like lima beans.
All that said, Farther Kye has a point and I have enjoyed some tasty lentil soups in my day.

We have governments worldwide encouraging unhealthy eating habits and the food industry is duly serving up "government-approved" food and drink products. Then big pharma comes along with its medicine cabinet to treat the resulting ill-health. We shouldn't be surprised by the obesity epidemic.

Well yes and no. In a system with socialised medicine, an obese population is a nuisance. For a country like the US of course, it is a goldmine.

Obesity itself is a marker for chronic metabolic syndromes such as heart disease, hypertension, type-2 diabetes, blood fat problems. The cost of treating these syndromes takes up a huge chunk of the health budget. Even under socialised medicine, someone has to pay for the medications. europeforum.freeforums.net/post/110143

Frank makes a very nice soup with lentils and I like them that way. Though it generally depends very much on hoe they have been prepared.

Was it a spicy curry type? I like ordinary lentil soup as well, but unfortunately I'm the only one here, so I usually cook a soup everyone likes instead.

It was spicy but not curried. I'm not an expert on spices so I couldn't say what it was.
