So...Juju?
I want you to take a look at the candidate I would have been ever so pleased to have seen selected for the VP role, Stacey Abrams.
You search online.
Then, compare her to Kamala Harris. Tell me what you think of what each conveys to potential voters....Remember, Biden does not really need to sway black voters to vote for him and the Democratic ticket over Trump and the Republicans. He was Obama's VP. Huge proportions of the black voters will vote for Biden, regardless.
But the conditions require a black woman. At least for the Democrats. They are going to meet those conditions in the most minimalist way. She's a senator from the most populous, and richest, state in the union. She's demonstrably intelligent and served as California's Attorney General after rising from the San Francisco city attorney. She carried water for the 'tough on crime' conservatives and got her reputation for prosecutorial misconduct. She's obviously linked in to some very humongous sources of donor money, as she is sitting on the dragon's stash in California. And, hey, the disaffected Republicans all breathed a huge fucking sigh of relief at her selection....that tells you everything you need to know about Kamala Harris. She is the road back to the "status quo".

Oh...Quick passing thought:
Does the bad precedent oppose voting by mail because the ballot of a black voter cannot be distinguished from the ballot of a white voter?
It makes it much more difficult to suppress subdivisions of the electorate by how they look. If you register by mail and vote by mail, nobody knows what color you are.
Our bad precedent is just being his usual bigot self.

I am coming late to this but no, I'd never heard of her either and the reaction among my American friends seems to have been lukewarm.

Steve, you should stop pontificating on a topic which you are exceedingly ignorant. I'm tired of your cryptofascism. Corbyn was, and is, head and shoulders above each and every Tory which has held the PM office during or since his tenure as Labour leader. So, I think your analysis is shite. I'm delighted by your insults, I'm keeping them all in a book. Cryptofascim is irrelevant in this discussion. And you obviously have different standards from the rest of the electorate who have, almost entirely, declared Corbyn a major disaster. I think you should stop pontificating on British politics. It would appear that you hold principles more dearly than the ability to win an election. I really want Biden to win the election and, within bounds, simply do not care what his running mate's principles are. Why should I? It's not my country. I want a Democrat who will serve the world's interests as well as America's. Of course I would prefer Elizabeth Warren or some other left-wing candidate just in case Biden collapses and dies halfway through his term and she takes over but that's not really relevant in the first instance.

So, you've decided that 'unprincipled' is the preferred position. I'm not surprised. That's just your cryptofascism showing. You've been manipulated by your own politicians to believe and perpetuate shite.

Heh...The Postal Workers Union joined the fray today: Gosh, I guess they agree with my assessment of the current administration. Imagine that. I would note here that the USPS has some 360,000 employees, spread throughout the nation, with at least one in each and every neighborhood, town, and wide spot in the road. That sounds to me like a bunch of people you don't want to piss off, en masse. These are the folks who refined and extended the concept of 'disgruntled employee'. Where is one when you need one? Go Postal!

From what I understand the current administration have made some "interesting" changes to the postal service so no wonder they won't stand for it anymore at some point.

What a president needs to do (at the latest after the election) is set partisanship behind them and start representing EVERYONE. This is difficult, and the bigger and more divided and diverse a country is the more difficult it becomes, and it has not been the norm to even attempt this in the US for some time now.
