A Dansh populist Rasmus Paludan said he would come to Malmö to burn a Quran, wrapped in bacon. The bacon would be an extra humilation. This was stopped by the Swedish police for safety reasons. Paludan was not allowed into Sweden.
But some other Danish men burned the Quran instead. And then hell broke out. Firecrackers and fires. Stones throwed at the police and ambulance. "We do not have the situation under control", the police say.

Well, the whole idea is just stupid, offending, rude and condescending. And I'm quite sure I can come up with quite a few other fitting adjectives. Being a hateful jerk doesn't fix anything. Neither does consciously insulting an entire religion.

I get their frustration with Muslims in general, but I don't think this is a helpful approach. It's like almost literally putting fire on oil.

Here some Danish men kick around another quran. Danish is not easy for me to understand but I think one man says the book contains "bad ideas". You can see one man holding both a Swedish and a Danish paper flags. A banner says "Freedom of religion", which in this case means "freedom from religion". The men are protected by the police. Some will suffer b/c of this but they will be protected.
But why are the Danish coming to Sweden to humiliate islam? I wonder if they want to humiliate the Swedes too, we are wimps who let the muslims walk right over us.
Moderator's comment: The idea that indigenous Swedes let Muslims walk right over them is Muslim-bashing and has earnt spaceflower a token ban of a few hours as a warning that, whilst reporting racism is welcomed, making racist comments of any sort is not allowed on this forum.

"We do not have the situation under control", the police say. Different countries see this differently. Their action in burning the Quran would have been seen as a hate crime in the UK and would have earned them a fine or, more likely, a prison sentence of several months.

I disagree with burning books in general, whether religious or not. It's ignorant and it's pointless.

I feel the same way but people throw books away these days too. It’s frustrating.

JK ROwling is being treated this way atm. I do not agree with the remarks she made about trans people but surely debate is better than just 'this person does not exist any more'

Just google JK Rowling trans row or similar. I heard her books have been burned. Too extreme in my opinion. Plus, it kills off any chance to actually have a constructive discussion.

O doubt people doing silly stuff like this care about discussion let alone a constructive one. You're either with them or you're not.

If you don't like it, ignore it. Don't call attention to it and to your own worst intentions.
