Tonight is the night. As of 6:30 am Pacific Daylight Savings Time here on Tuesday, September 22, will be the Equinox. Autumnal or Vernal, depending upon your hemisphere.

I am not sure how it is here .. it's still light at eight or so but it's also not light until six or seven. I don't like this time of year.

We had to get girl a night light. Her new room is a lot darker than her old one which had the evening sun and a streetlight shining in.

It happens across the whole world at the same instant: it's the two points on the earth's orbit where, viewed from the sun, the centre of the earth is directly in line with its equator.
The equilux (the date when day and night are equal length) will happen, in the northern hemisphere, in two or three days time. The delay is because sunrise and sunset times are measured when the top of the sun, not its centre, is just visible above the horizon and there is an additional slight lag due to refraction in the earth's atmosphere - this allows the sun to be seen when it is still geometrically below the horizon.

*beams at Cep*
All I know is that in a month or so the clocks go back and that's gonna make a huge difference. And then we're plunged into the darkness of winter again.

Yup. It's starting to get chilly here too. May need to switch the central heating on soon. *notes wallet trembling at the prospect*

Despite the thermostat stating that the indoor temperature is the same as usual, the sheets are now cool when I get in to bed at night....

It was 3 C this morning, and we're looking at -2 at night this week. It will be clear, so no snow, but it's coming!
