None of us have eaten for nearly ten weeks Okay okay, who has had what today for their main meal? And I have a microwave Carbonara from Aldi. It was actually really good .. real bacon pieces, not that nasty synthetic stuff you often get.

I'm not in a right relationship with food at the moment. It's making me very grumpy.

I made a Crofter's thick vegetable soup from one of those powder soup packets made by Knorr. I added some broken up dried spaghetti, a slice of bread grated into crumbs, lots of ground pepper, and lots of dried parsley. The crumbs make the soup really thick - a porridge-like consistency. I had a second slice of bread to dip into it and eat while the soup was still boiling hot, and then ate the rest of it after it had cooled down a little.

I have had nothing for my main meal today because it is still before 9am.
Yesterday - fettucini with a tomato and basil sauce (from a jar).

The only soup I really eat a lot of is tomato but I am too lazy to make my own. Aldi do a nice own brand version though.

I tried to make some soup once but I gave up because the recipe had a list of about ten ingredients that I would have had to have bought and it was all too much trouble.

I make broth more than soup. Basically just the water meat and veg have been boiled in with some salt and a stock cube

Broth is more of a meal than flavoured water, I think, though what the difference is between broth and soup, I don't know.

The past week I've eaten whatever my midwife or husband brought up. It's lovely.

"brought up" also has another meaning ... particularly relevant for nursing babies ... and cats

In this case it is supposed to mean brought up to me in the bedroom.

The glass of wine goes without saying.

I had a couple of pumpkin pasties. They're shaped like Cornish pasties, but filled with pumpkin with spices added. My brother in law made them, and I just warmed them up in the microwave. I don't know the recipe, but they were pretty good.

Today, I baked a sourdough loaf of bread, and for my lunch I just had a few slices of that while it was still baking hot, with butter. Delicious.

I really mean to try sourdough one day - I mean try to make it from scratch, I've tasted it and it's delicious. I shall put that on my New Year's resolutions list.

We had fish, potatoes and salad yesterday. I've been meaning to try new recipes, but don't have the time or the energy.
